TACOMA, Wash. -- A Washington state blood center is offering donors a deal: Give a pint of blood, get a pint of beer. Cascade Regional Blood Services in Tacoma says its "Give blood, get beer" promotion has worked so well that it's being expanded.

The News Tribune of Tacoma reported Monday that donors who are at least 21 years old are given a coupon for a free pint of beer.

Participating pubs and restaurants must wait at least four hours after the blood drive ends before donors can collect their free pint.

Cascade's director of donor resources Dan Schmitt says it's a fun way to get more donors, and it's good for the participating businesses as well.

UNIONTOWN, Pa. -- Police say a Pennsylvania man in a hospital gown stole $50 from his ex-girlfriend at Wal-Mart, then tried to flee on a store-owned motorized shopping scooter.

Thirty-two-year-old Craig David Jr., of Smithfield, was charged Wednesday with robbery and disorderly conduct.

State police Cpl. Chuck Frey says David had just been released from a hospital for injuries in a domestic dispute Jan. 1. Frey says David had been hit with a frying pan and table leg.

David was still in a hospital gown Tuesday night when he met an ex-girlfriend who agreed to pay for his prescription medication. Instead, police say he grabbed $50 from her and scooted away.

David remained jailed Thursday. He does not have an attorney.

DEFUNIAK SPRINGS, Fla. -- A 12-year-old boy has been arrested after allegedly pointing what turned out to be a toy gun at a convenience store clerk in northern Florida. The Walton County Sheriff's Office said that the boy walked into the store Thursday. Authorities said the boy pointed a wood barreled, long gun at the clerk and demanded money from the cash register. After handing him an undisclosed amount of money, the clerk told deputies the boy said thank you and left.

A deputy on patrol saw the boy walking on a highway. The boy attempted to run before being stopped.

Authorities said they found the money and toy weapon. The boy was first transported to the Walton County Jail, and later transferred to the Department of Juvenile Justice in Crestview.

MARATHON, Fla. -- Investigators in the Florida Keys say they lured a suspected marijuana grower into turning himself in by leaving a ransom note in place of six seized pot plants. The sheriff's office in Monroe County says detectives discovered the plants in a wooded lot and confiscated them.

They left a phone number on a note that read: "Thanks for the grow! You want them back? Call for the price."

Steven Alan Locasio called the number about 10 minutes later. Locasio offered $200 for the plants, and detectives agreed to meet him for an exchange.

Locasio was arrested and booked into jail on drug charges. He was expected to appear in court Tuesday. It's unclear if he already has an attorney.

A telephone message left for Locasio was not immediately returned.

EVANS, Colo. -- A Colorado man accused in a weekend break-in was nabbed when police say he ran into some unexpected guests - his own kids. Police say 33-year-old Raul Gaucin-Valenzuela accompanied a friend Saturday to break into the home of a friend's ex-wife and beat up her new boyfriend.

But the plan was foiled when the men ran into Gaucin-Valenzuela's children, ages 8 and 11. Police say he didn't realize the woman who lived there was baby-sitting his children.

The kids recognized their dad, even though his face was covered by a bandanna. No one was hurt in the break-in.

Gaucin-Valenzuela was jailed on suspicion of second-degree burglary and other charges. The friend hasn't been located.

MOSCOW -- Drivers in downtown Moscow squinted in disbelief as an electronic highway billboard blazed a two-minute pornographic video instead of its regular advertising clips.

Late-night traffic on one of the Russian capital's busiest roads slowed Thursday as a couple's explicit escapades appeared on the 9-by-6-meter (yard) display.

Some people took pictures of the sight with their mobile phones and posted them on the Internet.

Passer-by Alyona Prokulatova told The Associated Press that she was "so shocked that I couldn't even shoot video or take a picture of it."

The screen's owner, 3 Stars, told the AP that a hacker attack was likely to blame. Police were investigating the incident.

:toofunny
That one about pot for ransom is hilarious!
Beats a stake out. :lol

There was also something about some hapless terrorist wannabe from Nigeria who wanted to explode his underware on a flight from Amsterdam to Detroit and some silly politicians from the party now out of power using the incident to attack President Obama and Secretary Napolitano. :D
