I really don't get why this AVG popup keeps coming up and bothering me and trying to scare me. I mean on every website I go and visit my location is showing. It's called my IP address. It's just that not everybody has access to it. Does somebody care to elaborate and explain this to me? The only thing that I can figure is that they're just wanting me to pay extra money for their services or something by trying to scare me like that. You know, I think that I will tag StoveBolts, for_his_glory, and Michael74 for this since they really seem to know the answers to these kind of questions.

An IP address is how you connect to the internet...kinda like a return address on a letter.

Exactly. I know that part, I'm just trying to figure out the popups. Are popups ever truly genuine? I do believe that this is just a scam though trying to scare me to download the latest software.

Yes...they are trying to scare you.
Buy a pop up blocker.

Or I can just ignore it. Thank you it's what I figured in the first place. Nothing but a scam.

there free and work great i use avast have no problems
dont buy a pop up blocker you can get them free .all my programs ar free

Its advertising by AVG. I'm guessing you use their anti virus program, maybe the free version. Sometimes you can turn them off by:

Open AVG->Open internet Security->Go to menu->settings->general->Popups->Select all the option as 'Zero'

That might also turn off notifications that an actual virus was found though.

You could also uninstall AVG, and use a different anti virus product. Windows Defender should automatically start running if you uninstall AVG without installing another product.

There is an article on other things you can try, but they are complicated.
