Jesus told his followers that they would do works greater than what he did in the last days. This includes teaching, preaching, RAISING THE DEAD and HEALING the SICK. Hang on a minute raising the dead, but this has never happened since the 1st century the proof being in Acts that our early brothers and sisters did in fact do those things. SO the question is, if no one had never done it since, "what does it mean".
1. How do you know this has not been done since then?
2. Was Jesus not referring to these specific miracles in the context of the apostolic ministry and the divine authentication of their apostolic office until which time the completed canon of scripture would do the authenticating?
3. 1 John 2:18 essentially names what we refer to as the current era / christian era / church era (which is what I mean by "C.E." btw) in which we have lived nearly 2000 years.
Thats true but I would state Rev 11 is a sign that can't be mistaken. The beast, (currently imprisoned angel), released from captivity at the sounding of the 5th trump is the one who kills the two witnesses as we read in Rev 11. The reign of that beast is less then 4 years as we read in Rev. The bowl judgments are the last of Gods wrath and are the judgments that plunge the beasts kingdom into darkness. Ref Rev 15 & 16. Guess who comes to destroy that beast as the beasts time (reign) has a God decreed ending but not by human power.
Rev 16:15
15 “Look, I come like a thief! Blessed is the one who stays awake and remains clothed, so as not to go naked and be shamefully exposed.”
So from the time the two witnesses are killed and raised again and caught up to heaven in full view as the whole world looks on until the Lord returns is less then 4 years. Those who are wise and know their God will understand what is taking place in those days. The world however will be caught by surprise at the sudden return of Christ Jesus and those who belong to Him. 1st Res.
