What about Rom 5:1 ?

Rom 5:1

1Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:

This scripture, much like John 3:16 has been so misunderstood and perverted by false teachers and believers, that it must be treated to discover the Truth of what Paul is saying. It can be certain that what Paul is not saying here, is that man is Justified before God because of his act of faith or believing, for that would be Antichrist Christ, and against the accomplishments of Christ work, which only Justifies anyone before God.

Now, the verse starts out by the word Therefore which logically takes us back to what has just been treated upon to find the connection. That would be Rom 4:25 where the word Justified has just been mentioned prior Rom 4:25

25Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.

The word Justification in Rom 4:25 is the greek word dikaiōsis and it means:

the act of God declaring men free from guilt and acceptable to him

2) abjuring to be righteous, justification

It is used Twice in scripture once here and the other in Rom 5:18

18Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.

In both cases Justification is declared based upon what Christ has done or accomplished.

Because of His Righteousness [ His whole obedience to the cross] the free gift came upon [not offered] all for whom He represented.

And His resurrection declared all for whom He bare their offences, as Justified, or He was raised again because of their Justification. The resurrection proved that God had declared them free from guilt and accepted of Him based upon the satisfied Justice upon their Surety who had their sins imputed to His Charge to pay the penalty for which was death.

Whats in view here therefore is Christ's Faithfulness to the Covenant engagement that rendered Him subject to the death of the cross for the sins of God's chosen People.

And because He has finished that work, all for whom He died are Justified out of His Faithfulness or Faith and have Peace with God by His cross. Col 1:20

And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.

So Rom 5:1 begins with that though in mind Rom 5:1

1Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:

Now was the peace with God established by man's act of Faith or by the blood of His cross as stated in Col 1:20 ?

The Peace with God is by the blood of His Cross, which was the result of His obedience of Faithfulness to the Cross Phil 2:8

8And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

Now in Heb 12 we see the connection of Christ's obedience to the cross being related to His own Faith or Faithfulness Heb 12:1-2

1Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

2Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

The word author here is the greek word archēgos and means:

one that takes the lead in any thing and thus affords an example, a predecessor in a matter, pioneer

He took the lead in Faitfulness, which lead to the cross, which established Peace with God.

So now if we look at Rom 5:1 it says " therefore being Justified by Faith , we have Peace with God !

Now whose Faith or Faithfulness obtains Peace with God ? Col 1:20 Its Christ Faithfulness to the Cross !

Also Paul says in Rom 5:1 being Justified by Faith. The prep by here is the greek word ek and means:

out of, from, by, away from

Now it is out of Christ Faith or faithfulness those who Christ died for have peace with God, not out of their own faith or faithfulness !!

But that is what most in religion believe and Teach of this verse, that they have peace with God because of or out of their faith or faithfulness. That is completely wrong and dishonoring to the One who should receive the Glory for all those He died for having Peace with God. So its by Christ's Faithfulness or Faith that we have Peace with God, if we be of His Elect !

Justified by Faith cont

Another understanding of being Justified by Faith is that, When a already Justified before God individual comes to know themselves of their Justification, by a work of the Spirit, the Spirit giving them Faith, they apprehend their Justified state consciously, and so in this way they are Justified by Faith. This way, Faith is not the cause why God Justified one , for that was the blood of Christ, but the vehicle by which our Justification is revealed unto us.

Justification before God, Justified by Faith these do not mean that Justification is the result of ones belief in Christ or one is Justified before God because they exercise Faith. This is the snare of millions, when we say that we are Justified by Faith as a result of our Faith, we make it [Justification] a reward for our faith, which is contrary to scripture ! Rom 4:4

Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt.

In this we have renounced the True meaning of Justification by Faith. We make Faith a work and Justification a payment or reward when we think like that.

The truth is, we can not approach God with our works. It is our faith that is necessary. The Bible says, without faith it is impossible to please God...Faith is not a work. It is trusting that Christ did ALL the work. All we must do is believe. That is the ONLY part of the Salvation process that we have...

grubal

All we must do is believe.

The word do means to perform, to act well. Thats Salvation by works. Believing is verb, an action , that man does, so if one is saved because of what he does, or perform, thats salvation by works !

We are justified by being in and remaining in Christ. We have a simple choice...to remain in Him or not...to call out for Him or be satisfied without Him. We determine with God whether we shall abide in Christ who is our salvation. Humility and the fear of the Lord keep us even when we are not in the Spirit. We can grieve the Spirit very easily. We can provoke God and frustrate the grace of God quite easily as well. The Holy Spirit makes us MORE responsible to fulfill the will of God not LESS responsible. Grace empowers us to comply to the good pleasure of the Lord. Would that we surrender to this influence and are easily led by the slightest whisper of His voice. That will ensure that our faith has not been in vain.

Grubal says---That's, of course your opinion not backed by anything concrete. You say, " has been so misunderstood and perverted by false teachers and believers." Wow, that's quite a pronouncement my friend!!!

If someone disagrees with your opinion you consider them a, " false teacher and believer???"

Faith is a "prerequisite" to receive God's forgiveness and mercy through Christ...

Thats in your religion, not mine. All for for whom my Christ died have forgiveness of sins before they believe anything. It was not based upon their Faith, but it came through Christ's blood shed for them. Matt 26:28

28For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

Eph 1:7

7In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;

No prerequisite needed from them !

Without faith it is impossible to please Him...He who comes to God MUST believe that He IS...

A man is not saved by pleasing God. If that is the case, man is saved by his works..

The God I serve saves a man or woman by what Christ did for them, Christ pleased Him in their behalf..He said of His Son Matt 17:5

While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.

You can not simply "disregard" what the Bible says... Faith is needed, from the beginning of trusting Christ as Saviour and Lord, tell when we draw our last breath... Faith pleases God, that's what the Word says...And, of course He was well pleased by His Son. But, when it comes to man, faith is what pleases Him...

I'd like to bump this up since we have two threads on faith ongoing, and this point has kind of gotten lost in this thread. There is more in the early posts on this thread if any would care to look. The righteousness of God is revealed to us by the faith of Christ. How can we have faith of our own unless Christ is revealed to us?

Justified by the faith of Jesus Christ.

I've noticed there seems to be some confusion about whether we're justified before God by our faith or the faith of Christ. The translators of many Bibles took the liberty of changing the words "faith of Jesus Christ" to "faith in Jesus Christ" sometime in the early 19th Century. Even though the Greek confirms this, as I will show later, and was used correctly in other instances, such as the "hand of God" and the "faith of Abraham", the references to the faith of Christ was changed in many translations to faith in Christ. Tyndales, the Great Bible, Young's, and the KJV, all kept it in it's correct form, but most of the new translations adopted this practice of changing the "of" to "in". I submit it greatly affects the truth of what the Word says about how we're justified. I'll post on the Greek translations in a bit, but I'd be interested in hearing your views on this very important point of doctrine.

So, let's look first at some verses that aren't affected by a difference in translations.

We see that Jesus is the author and finisher (or perfecter) of our faith.

Hebrews 12:2 said:
Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Some may wonder why Jesus needs faith to begin with, or if He even has faith of His own, since being justified by the faith of Christ would require that He did.

We see that without faith, it is impossible to please God.

Hebrews 11:6 said:
But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
The Father was "well pleased" by the Son.

Matthew 3:17 said:
And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
The just shall live by faith...and notice, the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith.
What does that mean, exactly? From what faith? From whose faith? Keep this in mind because it's critical to how the righteousness of God is revealed. If the righteousness of God is not "revealed" to us, how can we have faith in God?

Romans 1:17 said:
For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.
Jesus is called the Just One.
Acts 22:14 said:
And he said, The God of our fathers hath chosen thee, that thou shouldest know his will, and see that Just One, and shouldest hear the voice of his mouth.
God justifies by faith...would that be the faith of the Son or our faith?

Romans 3:30 said:
Seeing it is one God, which shall justify the circumcision by faith, and uncircumcision through faith.
Think about this one...I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me. Christ lives in us, do we live by His faith, or the faith we have in Him? Here are the two translations side by side and you decide. If we no longer live to ourselves, but Christ lives in us, how do we live by our faith.
Galatians 2:20 said:
I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
Galatians 2:20 (NIV) said:
I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
