-sigh- Now we have another mouse in the house. I only wish I knew how they were getting in...had to make my own traps until we can buy some more. Hope mine work so I don't have to.

I have been trying and trying. I adjusted the sensitivity of the wooden mouse trap trigger catch and tried using different bait, less bait and then I thought maybe my scent is on the traps so they leave them alone. So I put on rubber gloves and wiped them all down with windex cuz the ammonia will kill scents. No go. Nothing. Mice are not supposed to be that smart.

And then, I had a great idea, and I think it worked, but I am not sure yet. But I haven't seen it again in a little while now...
I live alone, no little kids, and no pets...so I tried setting out a small dish of...antifreeze. They say animals will drink it because it smells sweet. And I'm pretty sure mice are mammals and if it would kill a dog then it would prolly kill a mouse too. I think it might be gone. I'll update you guys if I see it again.

I still think that having him or her drink antifreeze still sounds cruel. :sad

Did you ever try the glue boards?

No I haven't. Do they work good? Have you ever used them?

I thought I might have got him already with the antifreeze, but just as I sat down to go online again...there he was again and he ran out fast. So I think that means that he has not drank any of my goodies from my mouse bar....dang it. I was hoping he would.

At first, I was going to catch and release, but with him being so smart...I didn't want to give them time enough to reproduce and make an infestation which would be too bad and I don't want that so, I'm out to get him now.

I recognize him. He is always the same one. Full grown and the same markings. Luckily, he is the only one that I have seen at any time. So I'll keep trying and also keep sealing up the house. The attic mostly.

I wonder if I could use some string type stuff for bait on a trap? Mice nest and gather cloth, string and stuff like that for making a nice nest with. I'm thinking tie some string to the trap and when he pulls on it to take it, then it might get him...

I only had one mouse in my house, and the glue boards did the trick. They also are good at catching centipedes in your basement. I keep them in the basement all the time now for that purpose. If you want to release the mouse in the wild, use cooking oil to dissolve the glue.

The last time that I had mice and didn't take action, they multiplied and infested the house soo bad that....they were everywhere! I took a drop ceiling panel from my downstairs family room to look in and see how much sign was up there, and there was a lot. And I could hear them walking in the drop ceiling. I left the panel loose and one night I was online here and making a post, and a mouse fell out of the drop ceiling and onto my keyboard! And that was just too much.

My first 5 gal bucket trap I made, I set it up dry with no water in it. My plan was to let him live, catch him and take him for a drive and release him...but he wouldn't take the bait! So I can't let this get out of hand. So i'm sorry but he has to go.

I know just don't forget,.. mice are God's creations as well. :)

Your mouse could also be small and not be setting ofd the trap. Have you tried the Victor pre-baited mouse traps with the yellow boards? They are super sensitive, but I had trouble setting them so I made my husband do it. Unfortunately, he pinched his finger twice. Caught the mouse. Unfortunately now we have two mice picking up the chicken's leftovers outside. Hope the hawk or owl eats them.

Our chickens quickly and viciously attacked mice and ate them whole. The put cats to shame.

I didn't know that you had chickens.

I have heard this, but have never seen it happen. There were two mice when I flooded their burrow today and it led outside the coop. They had a quick escape. I patched the hole, but I figure they will be back. The mice come out at night while the chickens are sleeping.

If you use the 5 gallon bucket trap you have to create a way for them to get up to the dowel holding the can. ..

It's when they fall off the coke can they are trapped inside the bucket.

And you have to bait the walkway too with the tineyist amount of bait....more like just the smell of the bait than enough to feed them.

I did do that. I made a wooden ramp and put just a smidge of PB on the bottom middle and top of it.

Rats and Field Mice being a universal issue have caused the ultimate simple solution. The issue has always been, from the point of in vention the proper or effective baiting and adjusting our Life Expectations to align with the World we live in.

We, Mankind, a.k.a. The Human Race, through Adam, were introduced into this habitat in the Perfect Image of YHWH, Free Will and all. We, Mankind, have, from that introduction polluted our Perfect World creating beds of evil tthat all produce all manor of Poison Snake, Poison Spider and an incredible array of killing machines to numerous t list.

To this day, killing another man would grind deep on my Being but there are situations that warrant such deeply concerning and troubling reactions.

If a Creep were troubling and threatening my wife of my Great Grandchildren and would not back away I would, as we say here in Texas, pop a cap on them.

The same is true of the Disease and Vermin laden mice. So how do I ride my Home in the Woods of the vermin? This takes practice to perfect but I managed to perfect this unto, a very reasonable, success rate.

I love Sardines and Kipper Snacks. and it turns out that the oil off of either is irrestable to mice and rats. Put a small amount of any bail on the tang and wrao it with thread or string and dribble three or four drops of fish oil, and then rub the metal and the wood edges to cover the human smell and bye-bye mice and diseases.
