THE FIRST EPISTLE OF CLEMENT TO THE CORINTHIANS Translated by J.B. Lightfoot.
1Clement prologue:1 The Church of God which sojourneth in Rome to the Church of God which sojourneth in Corinth, to them which are called and sanctified by the will of God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Grace to you and peace from Almighty God through Jesus Christ be multiplied.
1:1 self-willed persons have kindled to such a pitch of madness that yourname, once revered and renowned and lovely in the sight of all men,hath been greatly reviled.
1:2 For who that had sojourned among you did not approve your most virtuous and steadfast faith? Who did not admire your sober and forbearing piety in Christ? Who did not publish abroad your magnificent disposition of hospitality? Who did not congratulate you on your perfect and sound knowledge?
1:3 For ye did all things without respect of persons, and ye walked after the ordinances of God, submitting yourselves to your rulers and rendering to the older men among...

This is awesome. I've only read the first two chapters and it's like a guide to life for all who love The Lord. I'm going to read if twice more later tonight and make notes. Two chapters each day! Thank you StoveBolts
 
Clement is on of my favorite Apostolic Fathers, and I hope to have a collection of all of them during Christmas break and I'll be able to break their writings into chapters.
There is a chapter component in Wordpress that enables you to create a book and add chapters but I haven't had time to learn it, and I already posted this.
 
I've never read anything of his. I like it.

From what I understand through Orthodoxy, and I am a bit foggy, so please dont quote me... but in the early church, there were many Popes as there are today. (The Orthodox have their Popes). The word did not conjure the primacy of Rome as it has for the past thousand years.

Yes, but the thread is about Clement of Rome and what he wrote to the church in Corinth.
What is your favorite quote? If you havent read it, I would highly recomend it. It's one of my favorites among the Apostolic Fathers.
