The video of George Floyd's last 10 minutes of life was hard to watch. Like most people I was horrified. But what horrified me more was the excuses people were making for the police involved. The video alone was and is incriminating evidence imo.
I have calmed down since that event. But now I've gone the other way. I don't want BLM destroying the credibility of ALL police. And spreading hatred. I want the police to be given more respect and understanding . Otherwise society will break down as a whole.
For Australia we have a deaths in custody issue. High number of black people die in prison. I don't know the answer to such complex problems but at least I can address my own racism. My own prejudices.

There is a middle ground and if we look hard enough we can find it. But we have to want to. Let's start with the premise that Black lives do matter. If you have that mindset, and pray about it, you are half way home. As Jesus explained, it all starts in your mind and then must become a prayer.

I have researched the families of most of the Black victims of excessive force by the police. They are almost all Christians. Maybe they were chosen to put this situation in the news. It is not easy to say God chooses martyrs, but that is part of our history.

Once you accept the premise and pray about it, then the Holy Spirit will send you ways that you can help. Right now you are helping by pointing out the middle ground. There are good and bad among all ethic groups and organizations like the police. I know this from personal experience. Over the years I have only met helpful police, but my son always gets the crazy ones. He called the police for help once and one of the police wanted to arrest him. The other didn't. The two police argued about it, but the bad cop put him in handcuffs anyway. Then the good copy said, "I am going to walk you into the station. This guy is a little over the top." True story. (They dismissed the case. The judge said it was ridiculous to arrest someone calling for help." The man had 18 complaints against him for excessive force. But he was protected by the immunity act.

There are so many things you can do to help. Remain open minded. Watch more than one news channel. Support the moderate and conservative protestors and condemn the looters. Support reform. Ask for the wisdom to tell the good from the bad. There is so much you can do to help this world change for the better. When it comes to BLM, let's not throw the baby out with the bath water.

Right now BLM young people are trying to get our attention. If we give them our attention they will calm down and work with the system. But we can't condemn them.
thats like saying dont spank the child it will only make matters worse . if BLM want to make a impact statement. then they should look at MLK and rosa park . i have no use for BlM racism is a shame on both sides when i see pictures of glass being broke out of doors. black young people entering that puts forth a bad message . for black young people.. i am more than sure some whites entered store to . i nor you or any of the present /past generations was slave owners. i am speaking in terms of past hundred years / what happened to floyd was inexcusable and the man shot in the back fleeing.. i am !99% against racial profiling .. but this crap going on today is wrong and the violators should be charged . regardless of color we can not look the other way.

blacks are humans to a buddy of our son drives truck . sometime back was in black community. blowing his money on games that gave out stuffed animals..he gave his winnings to the kids there.. nobody bothered him. there is hope

I'm not sure why but you're lumping together the looters with the members of Black Lives Matter. They're two very distinct groups. It's easy to generalize. I understand that. But its important not to turn away from their cry for justice. There are a lot of mature people who belong to BLM. The parents of those men that were shot by the police. Christians all over the world . Legislators both Republicans and Democrats. Doctor Sharpton was a close friend of Dr. Martin Luther King and he supports the movement. So look more closely if you will at the message of the majority and don't let the fringe elements and radicals distract you. Thank you.

When I met a black woman at the hospital with the name Peabody I knew my ancestors were slave owners. That's an English name. I was embarrassed.

I might need to apologise to you for my behaviour in the thread on this same topic a month or so ago. Anyway, let it be known that I do sympathise with your view and many other conservative Christians. I too, get tired of the guilt tripping and emotional blackmail games played by groups such as BLM. It is immaturity and they know it, but they continue to call the shots in a politically correct world which favours their insidious tactics.

I stand corrected. Some police treat some black people differently than white people. I worked for a professor at the Law School in Berkeley. My job was to type up reports about the Oakland Police Department. One report said that the police targeted "large, tall, buffed up" black men because they are more dangerous and look like they just got out of prison. My son is 6'6" and weighs 250 lbs. So he was always handcuffed the minute the police arrived and put in the squad car while they determined what was going on. Even when he called the police for help.

So SOME police treat SOME people different than others. They are always nice to me. They almost always send me to the mental hospital on a 51/50. But I have been arrested three times. A long time ago of course. LOL
What you described above is wrong and inappropriate for sure.

i got thick skin lol besides i dont remember no need apologize. we o temp scans at work they have temp gal taking them. she is black i try to greet her with morning and thank you. we should put out every effort to treat all with respect . i worked with young colored gal temp worker for while.. she tried pull race card on a argument with couple other women. i told her she would get no place playing that card. she listened . on that part till she got upset after asking me how i could have smoked weed. i asked her how she could have had her kids opps 2 different dads both in the pen, her unmarried

I am starting to see the problem here. You may not know this but the word colored is not necessarily derogatory but it was imposed on Blacks by white people. The name they have chosen is either Black with a capital B or African-American. Thank you.

By the way I appreciate your point of view. I'm not a radical anymore. But I'm not conservative either. I like to call myself a moderate Christian whatever that is. Anyway take care of yourself.

no there not
I'm being encouraged to not always having to be right. I am struggling with this because I'm very intelligent and I know a lot. LOL. But this time you are absolutely one hundred percent wrong. The Black Lives Matter movement and most of its members are not looters. And they're not all Black either. And they're not all young. And they're not just in the United States. I think you're in the minority here. How does that feel?

"pigs in a blanket. Fry em like bacon"....BLM protesters were heard chanting.......I am happy to distance myself from any group that allows this kind of attitude or behaviour..

You're still generalizing. It's wrong to judge the whole group by a few radicals. I don't know what to say except you're nitpicking for some reason. All I know is his something has to change because black lives matter.

I think it's best that I drop off this thread. I'm getting frustrated and that's not good for me. The world is in trouble with this epidemic and I need to focus on praying for everybody in trouble. To me the only thing that's important is that we love each other. God and Jesus and the Holy Spirit ask us to love each other. There's no exceptions. No matter what your race or gender we are commanded to be loving, kind and generous. So I want to give this BLM movement the benefit of the doubt and hope that someday everybody gets long as Rodney King put it. ❤

when I went to Spokane last month, a black friend of my daughter organized the protest. Had my daughter not had to work or take care of her kids, she would have participated in the protest.
Idaho is a stones throw from Spokane and is home of many Neo Nazi and White Supremacy clans. On the night of the protest they broke the window of a store and started looting it. My daughters black friend saw it and the BLM protesters stood in front of the store with linked arms and stopped the looting. some even got brooms and cleaned up the mess.

contrast that with what happened in Seattle (chop aka chaz), or what BLM is trying to do in Portland and it’s easy to see that BLM has a very different agenda in the more liberal cities than in more conservative cities.

Detroit is predominantly black and had major riots in the 60’s Because of segregation which was real and racism is still alive and well. Most of the police and fire are black, city council is black and chief of police is black. Ironically, BLM has an extremely small presence here.

Let me ask you both this question. Why are the major issues, and by that I mean looting, burning, violence with BLM mainly occurring in liberal cities where racism is low? And why are these violent, destructive protesters mainly white?

Why would that embarrass you? You were never a slave owner. i live in a county of 18,000. I share my name with two other individuals. I also share maiden name of our small groups host, yet there is no relation. I know this because my wife does genealogy.
Scripure is clear that children are not held accountable for the sins of their parents. My wife has slave owners in her family tree. She even matches dna with a black woman which means her ancestor was having sex with his slave, or a slave. The two are friends now.

et me ask you both this question.
i dont have all the answers i have no use for blm there was Black law officers killed in the riots NOT one time did BLM say hold up this is not what this is about 2. things and neither is this a excuse to take a life. floyd was questioned for a crime .he tried to resist was handcuffed he shares a small responsibility. either way he is not going any where handcuffed . the other man shot in the back while resisting arrest had he not resisted he would be alive.. still no excuse .let him run find him later. i am sick and tired of statues torn down people having fits over flags . if these young people want justice give them 4 acres and a mule . there own people brought them over for slaves slavery has ended period

It sounds like BLM is not totally organized and various groups are using the name for the sake of recognition but not necessarily mission. That gives the BLM movement a bad reputation.
