Masks to keep out the bad while letting in the good for pennies

I have discovered that you can breathe through a coffee pot filter

If you take four (4) coffee pot filters stacked one on the other, you can breathe threw them with no difficulty.

Coffee filters are inexpensive, and you can find them anywhere

There is one drawback. I need to find a way to hold the filters against my face.

Once done my masks problems will be over

What say you----

through away your filter mask on a daily basses and replace with a fresh one

Sounds like a great idea. Can you glue a string to it?

I'm lucky, my work provided masks and had a policy that you get a new mask everytime you entered. So, I saved them.

A friend of mine grabs them from the grocery stores and Home Depot. Most places give them out for free.

If I microwave my mask will this kill any pathogens that might be on it?

P100 has been proven effective in blocking 99.997% of .3 micron particles. .3 micron is the most difficult size to filter, so if you get those you also get the other particles too. Below .3 microns, particles are subject to Brownian motion that bounces particles into the filter. Only .3 micron particles can smoothly follow air flow through the twists and turns of the filtration media. Brownian motion means that sub .3 micron particles are so light that they bounce off of air molecules, which is what puts sub .3 micron particles into the filtration media. That's why NIOSH standards specify what percentage of .3 micron particles are filtered. Get those difficult to filter particles, and workers are protected from the other stuff too.

I heard that microwaving doesn't work. It's like putting pork in a microwave as you can not kill any bacteria that way.

I would not recommend microwaving your masks. While it sounds like it would make sense as heat could kill pathogens, keep in mind that masks contain PTFE (teflon) and at extreme temperatures can emit toxic gases.

Masks are often "sterilized" with ethylene oxide, which is a flammable gas.

If you are microwaving your hand made coffee filter mask, you'd probably need to make sure it is wet first as it could probably catch fire. If you are using bleached coffee filters, it's possible that it could also emit toxic gases.

You'd be better off replacing the mask or spraying it down with micro-particle colloidal silver or even a vinegar and water solution.

Why not just use Lysol. It kills Covid which has been around for years. I'm sure it will kill the current 19 strain.

To my surprise, coffee filters are expensive.
100 filters for $7.99 or eight (8) cents a filter.

I’ve been buying coffee filters without even looking at the price. I wonder if I can wash the filter and reuse it-?

Please, whatever you do, don’t breath in any Lysol fumes or taste it !!!!

Just a friendly suggestion

Still, the choice is yours alone to make
