You’re mother is sacred to you, is she an idol, do you worship her?
No, my mother is not sacred to me. She is honored and respected, as the Lord God commands me. But she is not sacred. I neither worship her, nor do I honor her as more than she is.

Not sacred, really? An immortal soul Created in the image and likeness of God but that’s not sacred?

Sacred: adjective
  1. connected with God (or the gods) or dedicated to a religious purpose and so deserving veneration.
Based on that definition, no person who has ever lived (other than Jesus) is sacred; honored, respected, but not sacred.

That would lack reverence for the sacred, what about a crucifix?
It is written..."Thou that sayest a man should not commit adultery, dost thou commit adultery? thou that abhorrest idols, dost thou commit sacrilege?" (Rom 2:22)
If it is sacrilege to spit on a crucifix, it is an idol.
It is just steel or tin or wood, with nothing intrinsically holy about it.

The last thing I did before becoming a Christians was to throw my rosary in a dumpster.
I was free from idol worship after that.

Catholic hierarchical order or Protestant chaos
Having given this more thought, this discussion is not about Catholicism vs Protestantism. It's about truth vs misunderstanding. I believe we all have errors in our understanding and what we are trying to do or at the very least should be trying to do is rightly dividing the word of truth. It's when we begin to dig in our heals in defense of our various church or denominational doctrines that we close our minds and hearts not only to reason but possibly to the Holy Spirit and get ourselves into trouble.

Deny glory to Christ, all the reverence, honor and devotion we give to Mary and the saints

When we give devotion to the dead, then we are indeed denying the Lord , who forbade idolatry.

But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.”
Revelation 21:8

Do you feel the Holy Spirit wants us to be "open to" false doctrine?
Sometimes, to the glory of God, we have to take a stand against the polluters of the Lord's doctrines.

That’s why Christ founded a church to teach the truth matt 16:18 28:19 and the apostles are lead into all truth Jn 16:13

I agree
But the saints are not dead
John 11:25
Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:
The communion of saints includes all saints

If their physical bodies have died and are buried then they are dead; hence the term “dead in Christ”.

Praying to people is idolatry.

All the saints in the communion of saints pray for each other! Rev 5:8
So I can’t ask you to pray for me?
fundamentalism is mental illness
Faith without reason, rigid sever, and full of pride presumption and arrogance

Please stop making up nonsense.

Address only what I actually post.

First you called me crazy, because I said praying to people is idolatry.

I let that go.

Now you are insinuating that I have mental illness, am without reason, full of pride, presumption and arrogance because I refuse to agree with you about praying to the dead.

Time for you to have a vacation and reflect on your behavior.

See you next month.

Praying "FOR" someone is very Biblical.
Praying "TO" someone is very anti-Biblical.

If you pray to Mary, asking her to communicate to God for you, you are putting Mary in the place that only Jesus belongs, thus you are reducing the value of Jesus, and making one of His creations greater than He. This is sinful, blasphemous, and condemned by Scripture.

I agree with the Lord's doctrines but we must be careful to rightly judge between what is the Lord's doctrines and what is man's doctrines.
