Building the Ark was an act of faith..
So is trusting Jesus for salvation instead of trusting in your ability to do things that bring you into a right relationship with God.
The fundamental core Christian belief is that we as individual human beings are completely incapable of doing anything at all to please God.
Trying to earn favor with God is to create a false image of God and a false image of human ability.
Essentially if you think you can do anything to put God on your side you haven't the slightest concept of who God is or even how corrupt and sinful you are. It's only out of the understanding of how despicable we are that we BEGIN to understand the mercy of God.
The faith to just touch His robe. Or to pour your perfume out on His feet and wash them with your hair.
When we understand how nothing we are we begin to realize that there is nothing we can do for Him.

Mary was a woman, I'm sure a good one who was chosen by God. That's all. It was a huge blessing for her. God put a baby in her womb and she raised Jesus as a child as did Joseph. That's no small thing and I do not mean to make life of it but that is all they were. Mary is not nor did she ever become any type of religious leader. She was made that by a church long after her death.
I am sure she is, if it were possible in heaven deeply embarrassed by how some worship her instead of Christ.

The faith to just touch His robe. Or to pour your perfume out on His feet and wash them with your hair.
When we understand how nothing we are we begin to realize that there is nothing we can do for Him.

You can believe one of two doctrines there is no other option!

1) Mary is the Mother of God, cos Jesus is God, one divine person who became man, and Mary is His mother.

2) Or the nestorian heresy condemned by the apostolic church, Jesus is two persons one human, one divine, and Mary is the mother of His human person and therefore not the mother of God.
