Why Protestant churches dont keep the Sabbath.

I am neither Kosier nor do I keep a sabbath day as is in the law, (absence of work).
I worship God in the new way of the Spirit not the old way of the written code.

Colossians 2:16

But what 'spirit' as the Holy Spirit gives us what Christ says in perfect agreement with Him, not another gospel.

John 14:26
But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

You think the Spirit of truth teaches us to keep the Sabbath as in the law?

Freedom
Therefore, do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day.

I serve God in the new way of the Spirit not in the old way of the written code. Feel free to keep the Sabbath if you so desire but in Christ one is justified by faith.

Many Protestant church's in the Christian world reverence Sunday, did God know that this attempt to change His holy Sabbath would occur?
"And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time. " Daniel 7:25

"Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood. For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock. Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them." Acts 20:28-30

Yes, long ago God predicted that, from within the church itself, misguided men would arise who would attempt to change His holy law. So the prophecy was true, and it has come to fruition as the Sabbath and those who kept it were swept away, and a substitute put in. We see this in many Protestant church's today, but do they know the truth of the matter...
are you a judahizer?

if you keep the law you have fallen from grace gal 5

there is a new creation and new covenant new day to f rest!

Amen?

Exactly! He is risen!! Praise the Lord!!----arguments about keeping Saturday or Sunday are useless.

"One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind.
He that regardeth the day, regardeth it unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it". (Rom. 14:5,6)
Then why go on Sunday, why not Friday like the Muslim? The first answer will be 'because I am Christian', but then you have to go to the Bible to see when those who follow Christ are called to worship, and that is on the Sabbath the seventh day.

Hey reddogs

I think you're holding the wrong subject responsible for this breaking of the law. It isn't the church. It's the individual's within the church. Honoring the Sabbath means that you do no work, nor employ anyone to do work for you, between Friday at sundown/dusk until Saturday at sundown/dusk. Then you can get up and cleanly go to worship with the fellowship of believers, aka church, on Sunday morning. Singing praises and worshiping and studying deeply the word of God all being legal because it is not the Sabbath.

Anyone who wishes to honor the Sabbath can do so in the same way that God instructed Israel to keep the Sabbath in the beginning of the law of Moses. Remember the Sabbath and keep it set apart unto the Lord, your God. On that day you shall do no work. Neither your manservant nor your maidservant nor anyone in your household, for it is a Sabbath unto the Lord. I honestly doubt that God has any problem with one of His children giving two days of the week to honor and praise Him for who He is.

You are honoring God by keeping the Sabbath. You are honoring Jesus by worshiping his resurrection and salvation on Sunday.

God bless,
Ted
Gods Word shows different..

Mark 15:42
And now when the even was come, because it was the preparation, that is, the day before the sabbath,

Mark 16:1
And when the sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, had bought sweet spices, that they might come and anoint him.

Agreed. If you are Jewish you keep Sabbath. If you are Gentile (like me) you keep Sunday.

Clearly in my view God wants us to keep the 7th day holy (separate) from the other days when we work.
I'm pretty sure God doesn't care what day we as humans decide to do that. As long as we do it (keep it holy).
Where does the Bible tell you to keep Sunday? Nowhere, it is of another origin, the ancient worship of "dies solis" In Latin, "dies solis" translates to "day of the sun," which is the origin of the English word Sunday. Sunday was named after the sun god, Sol, in Roman mythology. It is also the first day of the week.

It did not come from the resurrection of Jesus as that idea wasnt even known for centuries. But it started slowly, a change here a compromise there especially at Rome, but the flood gates were opened by Emperor Constantine, who tried to politically not to leave out or alienate those who practiced paganism after he claim to convert to Christianity.

In the early church, the bishop of Rome (along with Alexandria and Antioch) was regarded as a Patriarchate, or an autonomous diocese. To this group was added the patriachates of Constantinople and Jerusalem in the fifth century. This group of five was regarded as leading the church as a whole. However, gaining political influence and claiming "historical events" claiming the tradition that Peter and Paul had been martyred in Rome, the Bishop of Rome made himself first among equals.

Many ancient people worshiped the sun and other pagan gods as they thought that their sun gods and fertility goddesses died at the winter solstice and regained life again at the spring equinox......

Note what it says in Judges:
"Judges 2:13 And they forsook the LORD, and served Baal and Ashtaroth."

Baal worship is sun worship, and Ashtoreth / Ishtar / Astarte is the queen of heaven. The worship continued in the church of Rome, and the names and instead their names were changed, and these chritianized idols was a major part of what allowed them to keep their pagan gods but get in the church, led by the bishop of Rome.

To bring in more 'converts', the adoration of images and relics was gradually introduced into the Christian worship. To hide what they had done, they tried to take out from the law of God the second commandment in their writings, forbidding image worship, and to divide the tenth commandment, in order to preserve the number. Take a look https://sacredheartnorfolk.com/reso...inks/know-your-faith/283-the-ten-commandments

That the attention of the people might be called to the Sunday, it was made a festival claiming to be in honor of the 'resurrection of Christ'. In the early part of the fourth century the emperor Constantine as part his merging of paganism with the church had issued a decree making Sunday a public festival throughout the Roman Empire. Take a look.. https://christiandevotionals.substack.com/p/march-7-constantines-powerful-sunday-mandate-for-rest

The day of the sun was reverenced by his pagan subjects and was combined as a day to be honored by Christians in the empire, as was done at Rome. He was urged to do this by the bishop of Rome and other religious leaders, who perceived that if the same day was observed by both Christians and heathen, it would promote the nominal acceptance of it by them and bring in more 'converts'.

The bishop of Rome had promoted himself as leader of the church in the empire and as Pope had succeeded in exalting himself above God. By the sixth century the power of the bishop of Rome had become firmly established. Its seat of power was fixed in the old capital city of Pagan Rome, and the bishop of Rome was declared to be the head over the entire church.

I bet you don't keep Sunday like the Jews keep their Sabbath (I don't either)

I found this list of The 39 Categories of Sabbath Work Prohibited By Law: Each one is a link that explains each one.
The first one on carrying seems to mean you can't carry anything like your Bible or car keys.
the Prophet Jeremiah specifically warns his people not to carry on the Sabbath. He says (Jeremiah 17:21-22), “Take heed and carry no burdens on the Sabbath … Also do not carry any burden out of your houses on the Sabbath.”

Number 5 about writing -This includes all forms of writing and drawing. Typing, printing, and using a rubber stamp all come under this heading. You can't take notes while the preacher is preaching. You can't let your kids play with coloring books.

Looking at the whole list, I don't see how you could even get out of bed in the morning.

Yes, the Pharisees had changed Gods intent of the Sabbath as a 'delight' and made it into a 'burden', man tends to change what God sets forth. Here is a good explanation..

"In Mark 2:27 Jesus said, “The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath.” This statement was in response to the accusation that His disciples were breaking the law regarding resting on the Sabbath when they walked by some fields and plucked heads of grain (see Mark 2:23–28; also Matthew 12:1–8; Luke 6:1–5).

When the Pharisees accused Jesus’ disciples, Jesus referred them to an example from the Old Testament. David was once in need of food and was given consecrated bread that was, technically, only lawful for the priests to eat (1 Samuel 21:1–6). The holy bread had served a practical need of God’s anointed (David) and his followers, just as, in Jesus’ day, the grain served a practical need for God’s anointed (Jesus) and His followers.

David and his men had not acted sinfully in eating the showbread, and neither were Jesus’ disciples acting sinfully in picking heads of grain on the Sabbath. Jesus concludes, “The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath. So the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath” (Mark 2:27–28). His response to the accusing Pharisees contains two important teachings.

First, the Sabbath was intended to help people, not burden them. In contrast with the grueling daily work as slaves in Egypt, the Israelites were commanded to take a full day of rest each week under the Mosaic Law. Pharisaical law had morphed the Sabbath into a burden, adding restrictions beyond what God’s law said. The act of picking a head of grain and munching on it as one walked along a field should not be considered “harvesting,” as the Pharisees tried to categorize it. The disciples had not broken God’s law; they had only violated the Pharisees’ strict interpretation of the law. Jesus reminded the Pharisees of the original intent of the Sabbath rest.

There are many statements from the church of Rome on the change they did to the Sabbath, the Catholic Church is very clear on this:

"The retention of the old pagan name of Dies Solis, for Sunday is, in a great measure, owing to the union of pagan and Christian sentiment with which the first day of the week was recommended by Constantine to his subjects - pagan and Christian alike - as the 'venerable' day of the sun."" Arthur P. Stanley, History of the Eastern Church, p. 184

"When St. Paul repudiated the works of the law, he was not thinking of the Ten Commandments, which are as unchangeable as God Himself is, which God could not change and still remain the infinitely holy God."-Our Sunday Visitor, Oct. 7, I951.

"Question: How prove you that the Church hath power to command feasts and holydays?
Answer: By the very act of changing the Sabbath into Sunday, which Protestants allow of; and therefore they fondly contradict themselves, by keeping Sunday strictly, and breaking most other feasts commanded by the same Church." Henry Tuberville, An Abridgment of the Christian Doctrine (1833 approbation), p.58 (Same statement in Manual of Christian Doctrine, ed. by Daniel Ferris [1916 ed.], p.67)
"Some theologians have held that God likewise directly determined the Sunday as the day of worship in the NEW LAW, that he himself has explicitly substituted sunday for the Sabbath. But this theory is entirely abandoned. It is now commonly held that God simply gave His church the power to set aside whatever day or days she would deem suitable as holy days. The church chose sunday, the first day of the week, and in the course of time added other days as holy days." John Laux A Course in Religion for Catholic High Schools and Academies 1936, vol.1 p.51

"Sunday is a Catholic institution, and... can be defended only on Catholic principles.... From beginning to end of Scripture there is not a single passage that warrants the transfer of weekly public worship from the last day of the week to the first." Catholic Press, Aug. 25, 1900
"The Sabbath was Saturday, not Sunday. The Church altered the observance of the Sabbath to the observance of Sunday. Protestants must be rather puzzled by the keeping of Sunday when God distinctly said, 'Keep holy the Sabbath Day.' The word Sunday does not come anywhere in the Bible, so, without knowing it they are obeying the authority of the Catholic Church." Canon Cafferata, The Catechism Explained, p. 89.

''Reason and sense demand the acceptance of one or the other of these alternatives: either Protestantism and the keeping holy of Saturday, or Catholicity and the keeping holy of Sunday. Compromise is impossible.'' John Cardinal Gibbons, The Catholic Mirror, December 23, 1893.

Jesus.
The Creator who made the Sabbath from the beginning knows its purpose...

Genesis 2:1-3
1 Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.
2 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.
3 And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.

Yes Jesus made the Sabbath.. and He looks at a man's heart not his outward appearance.
