Heresy i say Heresy
Almost anything in excess is not good. We can't live in a pure oxygen environment and even too much water can kill us. About the only thing we can do to excess that remains good that I can think of is love.Okay so I used to smoke; I don't now.
Chocolate, too, in excess, can be damaging to health. Some people even quit eating chocolate, too.
I'm wondering why for some ppl smoking is regarded as a 'religious taboo', while eating chocolate is not?
(Just wondered.)
Comments?
Health wise, smoking and eating chocolate are apples and oranges.
Religious wise, unless you're addicted they're also apples and oranges.
Because only one is unhealthy in and of itself. You're probably right at a certain level. Both can be injurious; but only one seems to be the subject of a taboo, though...

Discussing chocolate and how much people like it always makes me think of Lent when I was a little kid.
Almost all my friends were RCC, French Canadians and Italians. When Lent came around they were always trying to come with something they liked better than chocolate so they wouldn't have to give that up for Lent. They couldn't so they'd just give up candy period.
Shows the fallacy of self-denial as an outward ritual...
Inwardly and spiritually it's very important, of course.
Blessings.
