After some series of conversations with some friends some of them are of the opinion that they don't want to be rich...or in fact very rich. It is as if it is a crime against GOD to be rich.

not a crime, per se, against Yhwh.

just loyalty to a different kingdom. want earth/world? seek money.
want Yhwh's Kingdom. ?

It all depends upon the heart of the person who is rich.

There are many people whom others would term 'wealthy.' They use their money to support a variety of Christian causes and charities; one family I know bought and then donated a large parcel of land to a Christian youth charity...even paid for the development of the land for the specific purposes for that group.

We are to be good stewards, whether it concerns finances or spreading the word of our Lord to others. So it is not a crime to be rich; it all depends upon the heart of those with wealth.

Right, nothing at all wrong with being rich, or even with the desire to be rich. It's not a problem at all until it becomes more important to you than is serving God. Once it's more important than God, then money has become your idol. The problem is that it's very easy to let it become an idol. That's why Jesus told us it's very hard for a rich person to get into heaven. Too many make an idol out of either gaining more money or protecting what they've already gained.

I don't think the Bible speak against being rich.It all depends on what we do with that money. The love of money is a sin.I have known people who were filthy rich and you would know that had a dime.

Actually scripture says "...the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil..." (1 Timothy 6:10a). It's not even the love of money that is a sin. It's the sin that can come from that love that is evil. We can love lots of things as long as we don't love them more than we love God, and we don't allow them to lead us into evil.

God should always come first above everything and everyone.

I was once in my cafeteria at work.I had bought my lunch and I remembered that I forgot my cookie.I ran over to get it and when I came back to pay for it they cashier said "Someone has already paid for your lunch". :confused

You might be surprised the number of people who actually do something like that. Kind of the 'unsung' heroes who bless lives quietly, without fanfare.

I respect the person who can do a good deed for someone and keep it totally anonymous. It is only between them and God.

That's exactly how it should be: between them & God.

If anonymity cannot be maintained, then a humbleness of heart should be the basis of the giving. Our Lord knows the motive behind the doing & giving.

Just as God intended.

Matthew 6
3 But when you do a charitable deed, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing,

What about Matthew 19:24? "And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God."

God does not look kindly on greed.
Luke 12:15
Matthew 6:19
Matthew 6:24
1 Timothy 6:9-10

Exodus 20:

1. Then God spoke all these words, saying,
2. “I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery
3. You shall have no other gods before me." (NASB)

Mathew 19
23 Then Jesus said to His disciples, “Assuredly, I say to you that it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven.
24 And again I say to you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.”
25 When His disciples heard it, they were greatly astonished, saying, “Who then can be saved?”
26 But Jesus looked at them and said to them, “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
