No, it's not mistaken.
James 4:2, 3 states: "Ye lust, and have not: ye kill and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not. Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts."
When considered along with Matthew...
A wonderful gesture!
To all here at Chistianforums.net, my apologies to anyone whom I have offended during my time here. Although no one's perfect, that's no excuse to hurt someone. I humbly ask your forgiveness for any wrongs I have wrought. And as for your offences against me, I forgive you...
Not necessarily.
It's possible He denies our requests due to sin in our lives. Sure what we request may be good and all, but He won't answer our prayers if we don't acknowledge our wrongs and try to do better. Even so, that's not to say that good behavior guarantees He'll grant our petitions...
Not entirely sure what's going on in this thread as some posts have been edited (removed). But I just wanted to say that repentance is necessary to salvation.
John the Baptist told the people "Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand" (Matthew 3:7). Jesus stated those same words in...
"for whatsoever is not of faith is sin." -- Romans 14:23
When I read that portion, I think of two things:
Whatever you do (assuming it's a good thing) that isn't done confidently is wrong. You should never go into something thinking it can't be done, that you can't do it, or that you'll fail...
I, too, have wondered how many of the illnesses -- physical and mental -- that people are dealing with today are the result of demon possession. But how does one accurately diagnose such a thing? It seems people could do it in Jesus' time (see Mark 7:24-30; 9:14-27). Modern science has yet to...
I agree. As the Word says, "Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. But wilt thou know, O vin man, that faith without works is dead?" (James 2:19, 20). If faith by itself were enough to please God, then the devils would be saved as well. But...
Christ said, "If ye love Me, keep My commandments" (John 14:14). He also said, "Not everyone that saith unto Me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven" (Matthew 7:21).
Lots of people claim that they love the Lord but fail...
It doesn't matter what day of the week Jesus rose from the grave. He didn't change a single thing in the 10 Commandments when He was resurrected. The day of worship did not change from Saturday (the Sabbath of the 4th commandment) to Sunday. Yes, certain things may have happened on the first day...
Remember the story of Uzzah (2Sam. 6:1-11; 1Chron. 13:1-11)?
While transporting the ark of the covenant from Kirjathjearim to the city of David, the oxen that carried it stumbled and shook it. Uzzah, according to scripture, put his hand on the ark to hold it in place. However, God was angry...
Re: What type of existence will we have in the present Heaven before the Resurrection
Revelation 6:9, 10 mentions souls crying out from under the altar. This cry was figurative, like the cry of Abel's blood (Gen. 4:10). Here, the word "soul" refers to living beings.
