Doesn't mean I'm Gods enemy dude-I love what Jesus taught but I just notice a big difference between that and the Old Testament writings (from what I've read at least-I do not profess to be an expert on theology...).

Why is God portrayed so often in the Old Testament as a cruel tyrant? Cursing and dooming people? I don't understand and I don't want to serve a cruel God, but maybe I'm missing something...

I've been trying to but he doesn't seem to be willing to develop a relationship with me at this point, but I pray to him every day and it does help a bit. May I ask how you experience Jesus, Alabaster? What form does your relationship with him take?
