I am also new to this thread. I read the first page, then skipped to give my take (or should I say the Greek's) on one verse in particular, on which most of this rapture business is based. Unless I posted in this thread before? Having a few memory issues lately, because of fibro and Rheumatoid...
I think members of the Reformed church (which I am not a member and never have been!) say:
God is 100% sovereign and man (make that people!) are 100% responsible.
I think that rather sums up where I am at. I have quoted many scriptures above, and got opinions back. So here is my opinion. LOL
You are trusting in your trust, rather than in the power of God to save. If you doubt for a moment, does that mean you lose your salvation. One only has to think of a child. Often if they get punished, maybe more than the siblings, they begin to think they are adopted. They feel that they are...
My heart's desire is to be cured of RA! But a dream vacation in New Testament Israel is definitely high on the list. Not sure how you are getting time travel out of John's vision.
"The revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show to his servants the things that must soon take place...
Believing in eternal security about 8 years ago was the turning point in my Christian walk. I was constantly trying to work for my salvation, and feeling close to God one day, and unsaved the next. It was a nightmare roller coaster. When I was on about my 25th read through the Bible, God spoke...
I can think a bit in Greek. I won't say fluently, because I don't speak it. I read Greek, I speak French well and I can think in it. Sometimes when I am supposed to be thinking in Spanish or German, I think in French. I don't mix up Greek, because I never learned to speak and think in it. I...
I think the OP is a bit off. That's my opinion, of course! The Bible is true, it is the Word of God, and it reveals Jesus Christ from start to finish. But you have to understand hermeneutics to realize that the Bible can be misused and twisted, and someone can still call it a fact. You have to...
Actually, studies of Seminary students show them equally divided as to which language is harder to learn. 50% preferred Hebrew, and 50% preferred Hebrew. My Old Testament prof and I discussed this. He said he hated Greek, and went on to studied advanced Hebrew, he enjoyed it so much. Another...
I have a copy of Vine's which was handy before I knew Greek. I don't use it at all, now that I have Greek Dictionaries and Exegetical Word studies. I don't like study materials that are based on KJV either. Too many mistakes and archaisms for my liking.
It's ok Edward! Maybe the women's names could be in pink, and the men's in blue. I guess there is no way you could tell I am female from my name or avatar. Thanks for the congrats!
I'm glad it helped. But I am a woman! Yes, women can go to Seminary. I got the Greek award for Outstanding Greek Student,(99%) and 101% in Hebrew (I had to write an extra paper to accomplish that, which I wanted to do!) I just graduated in May, so the experience is still very fresh in my mind...
Someone asked about why some of us like ESV over other Bibles. In Seminary, in Hebrew, we compared the various versions to the actual Hebrew. It only took a few weeks of translating to realize the ESV was closest to the original language. That is verb tenses, word order, and actual word usage. I...
Thank you for all your prayers. I have pulled a lot of muscles, the IT band, and I have a lot of bruising. I have been seeing a physiotherapist and he has me off the crutches, and doing some small exercises. Walking is still hard, but improving. I'm hoping another week, and then I will try an...
Last week, the ice was thick on our driveway, and I took a very bad spill, with my leg ending up under my body. My knee, including the quads, the hamstrings and a slight knee cap dislocation was affected. I have been doing physiotherapy, but the pain is unbearable, even with pain meds.
I...
I just read and article on a child who brought a star from her Christmas tree, for a school project on Christmas traditions, and told the story of Jesus being born in a stable, and growing up to die on the cross. The teacher stopped her, and humiliated her and sent her back to her desk. The...
