    Gently Used Member

Hello everyone. My name is Timothy. I have been an on and off member of CF.net for almost 10 years now, serving at least 4 stints as a moderator. However, since it has been at least 2 years since I last visited, i figured i should re-introduce myself. I am the proud husband of my beautiful...

    can you spot a Christian?

No, and more or less anyone who tells you they can would be chalking one up for the Baring False Witness category. :wink That would be like someone being able to spot a person with a hole in their heart. Since a Christian is a person who is completely committed to Christ and continually...

A Woman's Place In the Bible

Greetings all, Two notes to throw in here that provide some food for thought: 1. The passage on head coverings is tricky, because Paul appeals on the basis of nature and the the customs of the culture. One poster has already addressed the lack of the natural coverings for some of these...

The Official King of the Hill Thread - Part 2

The Official King of the Hill Thread Sometimes it is just fun to compete for no other reason than to be silly. Here's how this thread will work: User 1: I am the King of the Hill User 2: *Places banana peel on top of the Hill which makes King fall off HIll* Now I am the King of the Hill...

Petitions signed. It is just not right that a service member is left to be treated this way.

    Voice of the Martyrs

I was just curious, because I figured they are great discussion starters. Like, this month's issue looking at what Iranian Christians are seeing was interesting because it was not as brutal seeming as you would expect from Iran. Not the cakewalk American Christians enjoy, but there does seem to...

    Struggling with 'feelings??' for somebody

I know this may not be the the most enjoyable thing, but as a Pastor, if I had a Student Minister and a young worker in this position, I would want your honesty up front. I would not want either of your efforts called into question. The worst possible thing from my standpoint would be what...

    How do you know?

I don't see it as forced on anyone, but rather a life given to them to enable such a choice. I know I am walking a VERY tricky line anytime we try to figured out how much control we have in our lives vs how much God's will lays out the path our life takes. In my eyes, though, especially in a...

just how much say does my mom have in my future relationship choices?

I've seen plenty of great responses. Mom does not have a say in who you date. It always makes things easier when the parents approve, but that is not a must. However, don't be too quick to dismiss Mom's thoughts either. Her life has given her wisdom that young adults like you and I do not have...

    Written By Blazin

I've begun a new post topic on my site this month. Since we all battle temptations on a daily basis, I am beginning to work on a temptation response guide, playing off the teachings in Matthew 4 as Jesus is being tempted. I would love some thoughts from other users.

    How do you know?

I still think there is a person set aside for us. If God determines who will marry and who will not based on the gift of celibacy, I would imagine He would also prepare two lives to fit best with each other and their callings. This is still just my opinion.

    Well, church..

So college isn't far away then, is it? The same still applies. When I was a student in high school, I didn't participate in my youth group very much at all. I did participate in a small group where the majority of those attending had kids my age or better. I still cherish the growth I had...

    Well, church..

Fellowship is important, so attending some gathering of believers should be weighing on your heart. I'm sure you have noticed that living a Christian life is easier the more you hear others speak of their successes and failures. God planned that for a reason. Haven't you started college? If that...

    In need of serious advice!

The natural side of mankind shows up in the boldest of Christians. You and I have the same experience to draw from here eves. Haven't you witnessed the fall of such ministers like Ted Haggard? I have locally witnessed the fall of a few pastors and deacons who have fallen into the temptations...

After 7 perfect years we need advice

I would agree with Reba and Vocal. God wants us to honor the laws he has given us. I would encourage you to just go ahead and see the judge. If you want a Pastor to do it, I know of one in Georgia who could do it for free if you agree to go through counseling.

    How do you know?

The idea that someone will just "know" has been over emphasized, but it is nonetheless still true. One great way to know is to consider everything the relationship brings to your life, and then honestly ask if God would approve of that detail or feeling. If you always find yourself saying yes...
