No it is not Catholic though I am sure there is some commonality there 1500 years ago. It is the Russian Orthodox Church in Moscow. I doubt if there are many Catholics in Russia or any other demonination.

.

Why is it called "Orthodox" .... do you believe in other doctrines beside the Bible ?

That's pretty cool, Venom. Is that you singing the solo???

I like the old style worship music. Very... contemplative.

:study It is not called Orthodox in Russian, that is how it is translated in Angleskii (English)
We have been around for thousand or so years, and no there are no other doctrines. Come back and listen if you want.

I am glad you like it, to us it is not old style but still in vogue. I started another post on the Russian Church which of course was the Original church which split both ways with the breaking up of the Roman Empire. The Roman Emperor Constantine was responsible for this due to his vision and changing the capital of the Empire to Greece,
If you go to the new forum post, I can put on new original U tube posts for you on anything about Russia and the Ukraine. Just ask

Tina,
To ask such a question is to rid yourself of what you believe the word Catholic to mean. Generally when one say's the word Catholic, one immediately thinks of the Roman Catholic Church. This is not a fair assessment of the truest meaning of the word Catholic. In essence, the word Catholic simply means Universal. Remember, salvation was offered to the greeks and the Jews, not simply the Jews alone. In short, if you believe in Jesus Christ as the Messiah and savior, and you believe that anyone, in any country, any nation, at any time can be saved, then your getting a better idea of what the truest form of the word Catholic means. Thus even you, Tina, are part of the Catholic Church in it's truest form.

Orthodox simply means keeping to the traditional ways as they were handed down including rites, rituals and doctrines. On the other hand, the word Protestant could mean one who protests such orthodoxy. I"m assuming that you'll take the later label?

I am not familiar with the history on the Russian Catholic Orthodox Church, but I do know a little bit about the East (Greek Orthodox Catholic) and the West (Roman Catholic) churches.

There is something to be said for slow, contemplative, worshipful music. I think the early saints may have sung more like this. Wouldn't know for sure.
They were giving their lives unto death. Their singing must have moved the heart of God.

I would guess this is how the early saints did things. One thing the Russians are good at and that is keeping tradition, that is when they are not having a revolution. :lol :lol :lol

they have only two in the last century, the bolshevik revolution and the fall of the ussr?

Thank you so much for sharing this. I played as bedtime music for the children. My son was disappointed when all the music was finished. My husband enjoyed it as well.

Very beautiful. :clap

Not bad. Sorta reminds me of this Christian Metal/Goth group from Australia.

VFX,

My 9-year-old son has asked me to play this video every night at bedtime since he first heard it. Do you know if there is a CD or DVD of the this group?
