Thank you too Mike, you're a pretty encouraging Brother!
I still feel I could have done better here. I need to keep the old man in his box!!! Back!!!!
Faith, what is it?
The ability given by the Lord Jesus to believe The Word of God over and above what physical circumstances dictate.
I don't know how much more simple to describe faith. Faith comes by hearing and hearing the Word of God, When the Word is sown in our heart, the measure we meet is measured back to us according to the amount of measure we ourselves gave. (Mark 4) We plant, Others plant, we hear, we continue to hear, God then gives that ability to believe the Word over physical things (God gives the increase) (Jesus the author and finisher of our faith Heb)
This is why we have books about God answering prayer Yes, No, or maybe. Why we have books that we just never know what God is going to do. People started out believing God, and their patience ran out.
Patience is a major part of faith. Even us so called faith folks don't like the word Patience. Our flesh don't like the word patience. We need more patience!!!!
Heb_6:12 That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who
through faith and patience inherit the promises.
Jas_1:3 Knowing this, that the trying of your faith
worketh patience.
2Th_1:4 So that we ourselves glory in you in the churches of God
for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that ye endure:
When your ministering to people that are going through cancer, money issues, disease, job problems, whatever the issue. We can pray for them, but they have to get in agreement with us and you have to have them examine this faith and patience. What are they believing for? How much time are they in their Bible, and what scriptures are they standing on.
I can't help any believer that does not value the Word of God enough to understand that God's word was sent to help and deliver us. There is more than enough power in one single scripture to change any circumstance because the creator of the universe had spoken already.
All things are possible to them that believe but if you give up, get offended at God (Big, big problem) If you think God is the cause, then your in trouble, big trouble. Some don't even make it.
Heb_10:36 For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.
you have need of what? More faith? More trials? More what? Patience!!!!! Put God first, do the will of God from the heart, and let that trial work your patience, counting it joy. God never failed, your hope is never made ashamed, what you believe in the Word will happen without fail, just keep your course, and don't faint. (Give up)
The time we spend meditating in the Word is measured back. It's a dawning realization that what God said, is far more true than the cancer, the bills on the table, the kids on the drugs.
2Pe 1:19 We have also a
more sure word of prophecy;
whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:
The Word will clear out those doubts, those fears, those things that are hurtful.
Just look at Paul. Snake bit, thrown in prison, ship had crashed, the list goes on. Paul still made this amazing statement after going through all these things. His patience and faith had taught him this.
1Co_10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but
God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it
2Th 3:2 And that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men: for all men have not faith.
2Th 3:3 But
the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and
keep you from evil.
The Lord is faithful who will keep you from evil, deliver you, heal you, rescue you. Paul said this even after going through things we can't imagine. God proved it in Paul's live over and over.
1Pe_3:10 For
he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile:
The Word will shine on those dark places, the Word will come alive if we just stay focused on the Word, and do the will of God.
Story:
A women came to me, it was my wife's friend who had been bi-polar all her life. She was taking over 1,200 dollars a month is medication for mental illness. She had two kids, and was just a mess. I told her about the will of God to heal, and told her it was not God's will she have mental illness or these problems. She had been told that God was testing her because of some special great plan God had for her. The people that told her this were just talking to be talking.
After spending a few months with her, the Holy Spirit told me what to do. We can lay hands on the sick, they will recover, but we need direction first before doing so. The Lord told me to have her meditate on one single scripture. That was it, nothing else.
2Ti_1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear;
but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
So she wrote it down, and confessed it over and over and over for a month. Everywhere she went, she always said, "
I have a sound mind, I have God's Spirit in me with great power, I only think love things. I don't think things that are not true. I have a sound mind, I think only sound things."
After a month she came to me with another fear. She wanted to know what she was going to do if God healed her. She was getting money from the state to take care of her kids. Now we have another issues, because she started to believe that God would and could heal something she had all her life. If she is healed, she gets no money.
So, we had to add a couple of God supply's your needs scriptures to her confession.
This is important, God knows the big picture, and takes us through things at the right pace for our understanding. We have to just trust and keep with God, walking down the path. Our own understanding is very limited.
It was about another month she kept meditating on those scriptures. I told her the Word will take hold and does not fail. She is starting to understand faith, and trusting God.
I happened at the doctors office. She was getting checked for her medications to be refilled and she said she was sitting there and it was like a light came on. She said it was so clear and real to her. She just blurted out, "
I am not mentally ill, I don't need anymore medication."
It became real, the Lord supplied the increase. She told the doctor no more meds, she is healed.
That was about 10 years ago, today she is married, teaching kids, and no medication. She tells her story to those in the same boat she is in.
All I did to minister to her was put my trust in the Word. As a minister, that is all I can do as we all have to trust God, and believe in what God said.
Mike.
