[__ Science __ ] “Dog Door” Discovered on Mars?

"Dog door" is just a humorous name scientists gave to a feature that is quite natural, but offers some insights into the geology of Mars. Sometimes science humor misleads people as it seems to have misled AIG here.

Right, it does not imply intelligent life. But since AiG preaches pseudo-science and does not understand real science, it makes sense that they would not get the reference. Of course, they just seized on it to make a theological point (on ID).

Some days, there just isn't much for them to write about, I suppose...

No different then the Trekkies hoping for a earth like in star trek .no money ,no religion and some creator alien race.

Stargate fans are no different.

Yeah, that's true. But then St. Patrick used a shamrock to make his point about the Trinity to the Irish pagans, and Jesus used a tiny seed to make His point. Sometimes, it works. But it helps if one knows what it is one is talking about.

Barb,my point is that those do exist and how large that group is idk

It's a doggy door for George Jetson's dog Astro on their vacation home on Mars. Wait, George lives in the future. Wait, he used a time machine. Wait....

Mostly. I'm thinking that there isn't a belief system out there that hasn't had it's share of whackos.
I would call that normal for them.

Honestly agnostics and atheism offer no hope .

Roddenberry ,gene type ,ww2 navy pilot ,and humanist created trek and if you look at eugenics ,star trek is warning against that in a few stories .the tos has the navy influence as well.

Not to have conflicts or be dark when he was alive .ds9 was green light but he was dead when it was airing ,he wouldn't like the darker ,internal conflict style it had

Unrealistic, but given it was in the early space age era ,it fit and gave a meaning and good feel.

Modern sci Fi has nothing close save Stargate sg1,sga.

Given recent wars and events I can see why some hope for that

The Expanse is darker and complex modern sci-fi.

What are you claiming AIG has been "misled" into thinking or doing, here, when you say that something has "misled AIG here"? Please quote, in his exact words, whatever it is that Ken Ham wrote in that short article that has triggered you into flinging at him your drive-by accusation, here, that he has been misled by something in the space.com article to which he give a link, and about which he briefly commented. Please do that, or else come clean and admit that you are just here to once again spew more of your hate for Ken Ham and AIG, and that you have either not even read his article, or read it, and are shamelessly lying about it.

Are you saying that Ken Ham was misled into writing that

"rather than being a portal into an alien dwelling, NASA claims the “door”—a diminutive 12- by 16- inch opening—is just a natural “open fracture” in the bedrock. Due to the small size, the NASA team nicknamed the fracture a “dog door""?

What displeases you about Ham's having written that, Barbarian? What part of Ken Ham's noting that "the NASA team nicknamed the fracture a 'dog door'" triggered you to say that "science humor" misled Ham into noting that?

"it seems to have misled AIG here."

Once again, Barbarian, you are bursting out of your "seems" with your faulty perception, which causes you to spew your contemptuous hate for Ken Ham and AIG.

Key word dark .

I guess since you don't have PTSD .
We don't need dark .that is always there.i have very dark humor .it is that some want to escape.

I know some that can enjoy dark sci fi.i have at times but we'll Battlestar Galactica reminds me of military over there .so yeah about hope.nope

Other shows might be good but Im not hearing about fandom saying that they want that as a future.

That you wrote what you wrote, here, implies that one of the following, two things is true: either 1) you did not read Ken Ham's article, or 2) you are deliberately misrepresenting it, and Ham. Why don't you quote for us Ken's exact words in that article, wherein, according to your accusation, Ham is claiming that this "dog door" on Mars does "imply intelligent life"? Thanks.

Ham thinks that the space team views this as a possible sign of intelligent life. In fact, the space team believes no such thing, so Ham is erecting a straw man.

Yet, what they did write, here, triggered a reaction from you. What they did write, here, was enough for you to seize upon for an opportunity to misrepresent what they did write, here.

Yep. I wrote: ""Dog door" is just a humorous name scientists gave to a feature that is quite natural, but offers some insights into the geology of Mars. Sometimes science humor misleads people as it seems to have misled AIG here."

I'm not saying that they intentionally misrepresented what the scientists wrote about it. My initial impression was that they didn't understand the report. I suppose it's possible that they did, but I don't really see a point in them having done that. I still think they just didn't understand it.
