I just think that Søren Kierkegaard is a good theistic existentialist. I am not as scientifically oriented as I appear sometimes on these forums. I like Søren's emphasis on subjectivity in Christianity. Too often I think Christians get tied down studying the Bible (like scientists get engulfed in mathematics), instead of praying/meditating. Christianity is a really mystical religion at its core, but we tend to forget that in modern life. I am not opposed to theism. I am merely a progressive, who does not care if a person gets those progressive beliefs from theism, deism or atheism. It is meaningless to me really.

I like Churchyard a lot. He was a real good theologian and I would go so far as to say the Martin Luther of the 1800s. It's a shame the protestant churches didn't hear him very well, because many of them have regressed back to the tactics of the Catholic church.

My only thing about Churchyard is that he knew the Bible inside and out, he studied it and was wicked smart. His dad raised him that way. I think he doesn't emphasis that there is an importance to study the Bible. But he was more about the church's problems then that, so I can forgive him.

I can't be sure they are talking about the same thing, but I remember a yahoo answers question that accused the Bible of being wrong on the basis that a verse refers to a structure built in the Bible as "round" and the semantics of pi came into play. What an ignorant charge that was to extract pi out of the word "round". The Earth itself is not "round" in the exactness of pi.
