1 Peter 4:12-19

12 Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal among you, which comes upon you for your testing, as though some strange thing were happening to you;

13 but to the degree that you share the sufferings of Christ, keep on rejoicing, so that also at the revelation of His glory you may rejoice with exultation.

14 If you are reviled [a]for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you.

15 Make sure that none of you suffers as a murderer, or thief, or evildoer, or a [b]troublesome meddler;

16 but if anyone suffers as a Christian, he is not to be ashamed, but is to glorify God in this name.

17 For it is time for judgment to begin [c]with the household of God; and if it begins with us first, what will be the outcome for those who do not obey the gospel of God?

18 And if it is with difficulty that the righteous is saved, [d]what will become of the godless man and the sinner?

19 Therefore, those also who suffer according to the will of God shall entrust their souls to a faithful Creator in doing what is right. 1 Peter 4:12-19 NASB

I've learned to ask (to cry out for) mercy.

The scripture you quote reminds me of what Jesus said in Luke 23:
People will beg the mountains, 'Fall on us,' and plead with the hills, 'Bury us.'

For if these things are done when the tree is green, what will happen when it is dry?

It reminded me of it. I'm not trying to establish a doctrine of eschatology or defend a view - just sounds similar, doesn't it?

I think the "judgment of the house of God" is the discipline believers receive as Sons as per Hebrews 12 and 1 Cor 11.

Heb 12:7-8 If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not? (8) But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons.

1Co 11:32 Nevertheless, when we are judged in this way by the Lord, we are being disciplined so that we will not be finally condemned with the world.

We can see this "judgment" isn't punishment or condemnation but discipline which separates us from the world which will be judged and condemned.

My experience as a christian has been the Lord who loves us works for the "good" of those that love Him. Storms my come but our house doesn't crash for our foundation is layed upon the rock. God gives us comfort in those times. Do we remember to thank Him for the comfort or complain about the "why did this happen to me"? A question each can ask themselves but rest assured God first loved us.
