Living in Thailand, I eat Jackfruit regularly. Delicious, filling and healthful. The reporters were confusing the 'smells like rotting onions' and 'prickly / spiky" part with Durian, another delicious giant fruit here.

Smaller, it doesn't taste anything like pulled pork. it's quite sweet and the best comparison I could give you is a cross between a banana and a locut
