The only OFer they could call up that's on the 40 man roster is..... Profar...
Yep and he was sent down to get more at bats.

Kozma is a great defensive utility player but no bat.

I guess you can only add a minor league player to the 40 man if who they are replacing is on the 60 day. Cole Hamels comes to mind but currently on the 10 day.

They said 8 weeks well that's close to 60 days.

Nice ray of sunshine for the Rangers yesterday. Old AJ may be back. The one who used to beat us a lot. :)

Complete game shut out.

Last complete game we had was the 5-1 Colby Lewis win in 2015 against the A's. He had a no-no going into the 9th.

The Rangers might not be reliant upon personal catchers, but A.J. Griffin's splits are difficult to ignore: Throwing to Jonathan Lucroy: 7.71 ERA in 13 career starts Throwing to Robinson Chirinos: 2.82 ERA in 11 career starts Certainly fantasy owners might want to check the Rangers' battery when their lineup is posted in any future Griffin start.

To be honest the pitching staff hasn't improved with Lucroy in fact some pitchers are regressing. I wasn't for this trade when it happened and it's beginning to smell like the Garza debacle (Brinson could be looking good in CF about right now). I don't think he will be back if Nicholas keeps improving and can make the jump, besides they'll need that money to resign Yu and have a shot at his friend Shohei Otani...

I agree. If the Rangers are sellers then Lucroy should get us a few respectable prospects back. Hope he keeps doing well at the plate. Bring back Bobby Wilson until our prospects are ready. With Cheerios hitting decent and great results with pitchers he's fine until something better comes from within.

I would sell him in July no matter what for the simple reason I wouldn't be trying to resign him. In fact I would see if I could get a good young CFer for him or a starting RHP prospect. (Taveras is probably 3 years away and so is any BP help)...

BTW I thought they were having Pudge work with the catchers in the minors, what happened with that???

Speaking of timing looks like mine's coming back, talk bad about somebody and an article pops up on their website today...

Terrible. Perez goes out and pitches a gem leaving the 7th with a 3-1 lead (should not have started the 7th TBH). Then Dyson comes in and gives up 6. Banister needs to get his head examined.

Edit: Not to mention poor shifts with two down and a ground ball pitcher in. There was one shot through the hole at 2nd and no one was covering there. So the positioning was pretty sad too.

Bull pen woes continue.

Dyson DFA coming tomorrow according to sources.

LeClerc comes off DL.

Just know Sam will make some great comeback on another team.

Dyson went to SF and got rocked his first time out looks like a new zipcode hasn't helped him...

On another note: http://m.mlb.com/cutfour/2017/06/10/235582600 :lol

Looks like Rangers are getting their act together finally and Houston is coming down to Earth so things should tighten up somewhat before the ASG. Don't know if they can come all the way back from the big deficit they face but it looks like that won't matter that much. Looks as if 12-15 games over .500 might just be enough to make the playoffs and that's the important thing, getting there...

Yeah saw that foul ball. Must have had some spin on it to damage the wall. LOL Choo is having fun now that he is healthy.

Yes good news. We are getting good pitching (starting and relief) and scoring runs now that the Captain is back. His presence makes a great deal of difference. The three and five slot are seeing better pitches now which is what you want.

Hope this is not fools gold though. Although sweeping a team like the Nats and having Bibby Dirx outduel Scherzer is quite amazing.

Yes I think things tighten up now that Keuchel and another starter are on the 10 DL (which means just about any timeline). The Astros would be smart to keep those arms on ice with such a lead, but AJ Hitch has blown big AL West leads in the past and will probably run his rotation in the ground.

As keeping competitive? The WC standings have them competitive but just about everyone is right now. 1.5 games behind 2nd WC and 4.0 behind the 1st WC. If they keep this close at trade deadline I don't see them as sellers unless they get a call for a sweetheart deal. Plus the Rangers under Banister have always been a 'better team' when in the hunt pursuing other teams.

We'll see. If they can sweep the Astros, that would be a huge bump to morale. Let's see how Nick Martinez does tonight. Hope when AJ gets back he will be nails again like at the beginning of the season.

Tyson Ross is just about ready to make his first start, probably this week unless I miss my guess...

They have 5 pitchers on the DL as of this moment, Musgrove just came off of it Sunday or it would be 6...

Looks like Scheppers is back finally and they just put AJ on the 60 day DL. Currently running with a 13 man pitching staff right in the middle of 20 games in 20 days then onto AS break. Wonder if they will let Joey do HR derby during AS break??

http://m.rangers.mlb.com/news/artic...ll-pitcher-tanner-scheppers/?topicId=27118410
And Schep like always played with fire. I still don't think he knows where his pitches are going to show up. He's fools gold and Banister will keep putting him out there until he implodes.

Bush blew another save tonight. His curve and slider have been flat which means he's fooling no one with his heat. Think Banister ruined another reliever.

The closer slot has been cursed since Cardiac Joe left.

Banister is better off going with who is hot on any given week to close out the game. That makes what 10 blown saves and losses which even if half were turned we would be in much better shape.

Jeffress is one outing from implosion too. The rumor was he was on his way to DFA until Dyson imploded.

Seems since 2012 the rotation has been on a revolving DL and the pen has been inconsistent.

This is a great and dangerous team when they are all clicking.

Two below .500 at the middle of the season. Right about where I thought we would be but I think I saw us up a few games above .500 competitive for a WC.

Oh and we really need to get Rangers fans to vote for their players no matter how bad they think they are playing. No starter or even sub this year at the ASG:

http://www.star-telegram.com/sports/mlb/texas-rangers/article160228894.html

Just Yu as a dugout hanger outer.

If Yu and Cole can keep up what they did in their last starts, and two other starters step up and pitch consistently, then we might keep competitive for a 2nd WC.

JD said in an interview that the Rangers will not be sellers. I can see why. When you have a lineup producing a lot of runs why sell a piece you still control? Lucroy is a FA at the end of the season, so if they can get some good prospects for him, then deal him. However, his worth this year is way down. If JD buys the buzz is it will be for BP help. Much needed but trading for relievers is risky business in the long run. Look at Dyson, we 1.5 seasons out of him. Yet for the Giants he has a 2.90 ERA in 5 games and 3 saves.

That lineup is still missing the one big bat it desperately needs so don't see them getting past the 1st round. And you know exactly who I'm referring to JD let him get away, he would look really good in the DH slot...
