A 1000 Year Millennial Kingdom On This Earth?

No place in Revelation 20:1-6 does it show a kingdom on this earth with "Mortal Humans Present" as many believe and teach.

The scripture presented represents the Lord's spiritual realm of eternity, no time.

Angel, heaven, devil, satan, the souls, the dead, God, Christ, 100% the Lord's spiritual realm of no literal time.

There is no kingdom on earth seen, with mortal humans present as many claim.

Revelation 20:1-6KJV
20 And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand.
2 And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,
3 And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.
4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.
5 But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.
6 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.

Jesus Christ Returns In the final judgment, eternal life, eternal kingdom, as he clearly taught below.

There will be no future 1000 year kingdom on this earth, with mortal humans present, as Jesus sits on a throne watching mortal humans dying around him.

Verses 31-32 Jesus Returns with the angels, the nations are gathered for judgment.

Verse 34 The eternal kingdom is presented to the righteous.

Verse 41 The wicked are judged to the eternal lake of fire.

Verse 46 The righteous obtain eternal life, and enter the eternal kingdom in verse 34

"ETERNITY BEGINS"!

Matthew 25:31-46KJV
31 When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:
32 And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:

33 And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.
34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:
35 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:
36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.
37 Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?
38 When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?
39 Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?
40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.
41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:
42 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:
43 I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.
44 Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?
45 Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.
46 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

Jesus Christ returns, then "The End Comes" Can't be more "Clear" than that.

There is no 1000 year kingdom on earth hidden between verses 23-24 below.

"Then Cometh The End"

1 Corinthians 15:20-24KJV
20 But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept.
21 For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead.
22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.
23 But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ's at his coming.
24 Then cometh the end,
when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power.

Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
First, a little Greek:
The word "Kingdom" is translated from the word, " βασιλεύς".

To what does it refer?

  1. royal power, kingship, dominion, rule
    1. not to be confused with an actual kingdom but rather the right or authority to rule over a kingdom
    2. of the royal power of Jesus as the triumphant Messiah
    3. of the royal power and dignity conferred on Christians in the Messiah's kingdom
  2. used in the N.T. to refer to the reign of the Messiah
Conclusion; When Jesus speaks of the "Kingdom of God" (or of heaven) He is not talking about a territory with borders and cities and farms and rivers and roads and mountains and plains.

He is talking about His rule over all of creation, over the entire universe, not about a piece of land here on earth.

A few things Jesus said about the Kingdom and it's coming.
(1) Luk 17:20-21 Now when He was asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, He answered them and said, “The kingdom of God does not come with observation; nor will they say, ‘See here!’ or ‘See there!’ For indeed, the kingdom of God is within you.”
So it is not a physical kingdom with borders and land.
It is the reign of God which is within each individual believer and it is the person of the King who dwells within the believer along with the Father and the Holy Spirit. (Jn 17:22-23a; 14:17)

(2) Mar 9:1 “Assuredly, I say to you that there are some standing here who will not taste death till they see the kingdom of God present with power.”
He was speaking to His disciples and every last one of them has died a very long time ago. That means that some of them lived to see the Kingdom of God present with power and that also had to be a very long time ago.

(3) Mat 28:18 “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth."
What do you call a person who has all authority? He is called a "King."
When was all authority in heaven and on earth given to Jesus? Answer: around 30AD.
So, that 1000 year reign of Christ and the saints started almost 2000 years ago which makes taking the "1000 years" literally is a mistake. Since the 1000 year reign of Christ has been going on for almost 2000 years, we must understand the 1000 years of Revelation to mean "a long time."

(4) Act 1:8 “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
What about the kingdom being "present with power"?

Here's some examples of kingdom power:
Act 3:11 Now as the lame man who was healed....
Act 5:16... a multitude gathered from the surrounding cities to Jerusalem, bringing sick people and those who were tormented by unclean spirits, and they were all healed.
Act 8:7 For unclean spirits, crying with a loud voice, came out of many who were possessed; and many who were paralyzed and lame were healed.
Act 14:9-10 This man heard Paul speaking. Paul, observing him intently and seeing that he had faith to be healed, said with a loud voice, “Stand up straight on your feet!” And he leaped and walked.
Act 28:8-9 And it happened that the father of Publius lay sick of a fever and dysentery. Paul went in to him and prayed, and he laid his hands on him and healed him. So when this was done, the rest of those on the island who had diseases also came and were healed.

The apostles and others demonstrated the same kingdom power as had Jesus.

The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with all y’all.

How do you deal with this verse:
"5 But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. "

If the 1000 yrs is eternity, then how do the dead live again when it is ended?

I take "this is the first resurrection" to be referring to those "who came to life and reigned with Christ" and not to "the rest of the dead," since it defines this in v. 6.

So according to this passage, it appears there will be 1st resurrection of Christians, then 1000 year reign of Christ, then subsequent resurrection of unbelievers.

How do you explain this according to your theory?

6 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.

Simple Explanation:

The rest of the dead are believers that died in faith, they will live again with all believers at the "Last Day" resurrection of all that have died.

There are "Two Resurrections" on the "Last Day" the believers are blessed to be in the "First Resurrection" to life, as the wicked are in the "Second Resurrection" to the lake of fire or "Second Death"

John 6:39-40KJV
39 And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.
40 And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.

John 5:28-29KJV
28 Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice,
29 And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.

I still don't get it. The verse says "when the 1000 years are completed." When eternity is completed? If I understand you correctly, you emphasized that the 1000 years was eternity. Did I read you wrong? If so, then what is the 1000 years - how do you define it?

Further, you say that "the rest of the dead" refers to believers rising at the end of 1000 years. So I take it that you think the initial resurrection of "those beheaded..." are a subset of believers raised before the 1000 years, and the rest of believers raised after. So then there are 2 resurrections of believers? And another resurrection of unbelievers? How many first resurrections do you think there are, and where are they found in scripture?

Then what about Christ ruling with a rod of iron? Why is a rod of iron needed if there are no God-haters in the world at that time? And how is Satan going to deceive the nations if there are no unbelievers to be deceived at the end of 1000 years? Or do you think that Christ is ruling with a rod of iron today, while according to John "the whole world is under the control of the evil one"?

To me, your theory that "the rest of the dead" refers to believers rather than unbelievers doesn't solve anything at this point.

The thousand years is a non literal time taking place now, and will end at the second coming.

There is only one "Last Day" resurrection of all, as clearly shown in the verses presented.

That will about do it, tried to explain to you my best, No need to run around the bush 10 more times. :horse

It can be because Jesus said it is.

Just read what Jesus said.

Oh come on Brother, Don't be like that. I respect your words on this board. We usually agree. But that was a curve ball for me that I've never heard before. So I asked for some clarification.

Not sure how you took my question, but it was an honest question and no sarcasm or anything...please?

OK.
I Don't see how that can be. A day is as 1000 years.
IS that to be taken literally wherever you find it?
How about Gen 1:5 "God called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night. So the evening and the morning were the first day."
So was the first day actually the first 1000 years?
Or, how about : Psa 90:4 For a thousand years in Your sight Are like yesterday when it is past,
And like a watch in the night.

A "watch" was 4 hours. So, taken literally, 4 hours is equal to 1000 years.
And my point is; don't take a figure of speech (a simile) and make it a standard measure.
2Pe 3:8 But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
All Peter is saying is that, to God, time is not an issue. Because God is not part of creation, He is "outside of" time. So, what feels like 1000 years to us, figuratively speaking, would be like a day or even a "watch in the night" (4 hours) to the Lord.

The other, and most common, interpretation of 1000 years is from Rev 20: 4, 6 where John reports the 1000 year reign of Christ and the saints. Many people take this to be a literal 1000 years which will begin sometime in the future.

What I pointed out from Jesus' words is that He has already been the ruler of heaven and earth with His saints for the past 2000 years. That's the meaning of Mat 28:18. ALL authority had been given to Jesus of Nazareth, the Christ, the Son of God, the Word made flesh, God incarnate, at that time around 30 AD.

People are waiting for the Kingdom to come but it HAS come. The Church is the breaking in of the Kingdom of God on earth in the midst of the Devil's territory.

The Church is LITERALLY the body of Christ.
The Church is made up of God's kings and priests.
The kingdom has com with power because;
Mar 16:17-18 "...these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.
In other words, the Church will do what Jesus did. And the church does do what Jesus did. We do cast out demons. We do heal the sick. Not everyone, but those who prepare themselves with prayer and fasting. (Mar 9:29)
And what Paul did:
1Co 2:4-5 "And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God."

People have taken the highly symbolic, apocalyptic, ecstatic visions of John and applied a literal meaning to those two verses.

So, as I see it, we are now in the millennial reign of Christ who has been given all authority in heaven and earth and, if the Church would focus on holiness instead of prosperity and would attend to the masters business instead of saying "I'm saved." and kicking back in the Son shine, you would see a lot more healing and casting out demons etc.

But we are so prosperous here in the USA that we say, " 'I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing'—and (we) do not know that you (we) are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked—" (Rev 3:17)

When the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth? (Luk 18:8)
Will He find his servants doing business with the talents He has put into our hands or will He find that we buried them?
Will He find the Church doing His Father's business or just going to "End Times" and "Prophesy" conferences to have our ears tickled?
Or will he find his church kicking back, naming it and claiming it? :shrug
Or maybe arguing about whether the "rapture" is pre, mid, or post trib.....:nonono

What will He find me doing????? :shock

Mat 24:44-51
Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.
Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his master made ruler over his household, to give them food in due season? Blessed is that servant whom his master, when he comes, will find so doing. Assuredly, I say to you that he will make him ruler over all his goods.
But if that evil servant says in his heart, ‘My master is delaying his coming,’ and begins to beat his fellow servants, and to eat and drink with the drunkards, the master of that servant will come on a day when he is not looking for him and at an hour that he is not aware of, and will cut him in two and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites. There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. :eek2

2 Peter 3:8
But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

one day plus one day equal?

Hosea 6:1-3
Come, and let us return unto the Lord:
for he hath torn, and he will heal us;
he hath smitten, and he will bind us up.
After two days will he revive us:
in the third day he will raise us up,

and we shall live in his sight.
Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the Lord:
his going forth is prepared as the morning;
and he shall come unto us as the rain,
as the latter and former rain unto the earth.

Does the third day dawn?

OK.

:eek2

Thanks Brother. I'm gonna sleep on that one before answering. Work comes early lol.
That's quite a bit to digest. :)

The thousand years is a non literal time taking place now, and will end at the second coming.

There is only one "Last Day" resurrection of all, as clearly shown in the verses presented.

That will about do it, tried to explain to you my best, No need to run around the bush 10 more times. :horse
Seems to me you're running around plain scripture. You only answered one of my several questions. You have a long way to go to convince me of your theory. I'm just asking questions, but if you can't answer them, no need to respond.

The 1000 years are literal and represent the
Seventh Day of rest to come for the people of God.

The rest that the weekly Sabbath points to.

A time when the wicked will have been removed and the righteous will be at rest with Christ their King.

8 For if Joshua had given them rest, then He would not afterward have spoken of another day. 9 There remains therefore a rest for the people of God. Hebrews 4:8-9

GOOD answer :thumbsup

JLB, that passage says:
Heb 4:9-11 "So there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God. For the one who has entered His rest has himself also rested from his works, as God did from His. Therefore let us be diligent to enter that rest, so that no one will fall, through following the same example of disobedience."

Since it says "let us be diligent to enter that rest," I don't understand how you get some future rest out of this context. It is clear to me that the rest he is talking about is for here and now, and is the rest wherein we "cease from our works" for obtaining salvation.

Furthermore, since I have experienced this rest already, I keep scratching my head about how people get something else out of this verse. Can you please exegete your interpretation on this?

Do you see this rest as being synonomous with salvation?

Do you still have enemies that fight against you?

Does your flesh still strive against the Spirit within you?

For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. Galatians 5:17

When you have an immortal body that will never die and shines like the sun, then your flesh will no longer strive against the Spirit, and have lustful cravings that spring forth from the sin that now dwells in your flesh.

Then, you will be truly at rest.

This is something we all look forward to.
