A Generational Paradox

Some of you may have seen this before.
Compare the following to what you think of American society today.

We have taller buildings but shorter tempers, wider freeways but narrower viewpoints.
We spend more but enjoy it less.
We have bigger houses but smaller families, more conveniences but less time.
We have more degrees but less sense, more knowledge but less judgment.
We have more experts but more problems, more medicine but less health.
We have multiplied our possessions but reduced our value.
We talk too much, love too seldom and hate too often.
We have learned how to make a living but not a life.
We have added years to our life but not life to our years.
We have been to the moon and back and yet have trouble meeting our own neighbors.
We have conquered outer space but not inner space.
We have cleaned up the air but polluted our souls.
We have split the atom but not our prejudice.
We write more but learn less.
We have learned to rush but not to wait.
We have higher incomes but lower morals.
We have become high on quantity but low on quality.
These are the days of two incomes but times of spiritual poverty.
These are the days of fancier houses but broken homes.
These are the days of quick trips, disposable diapers, throwaway morality, one-night stands, over-weight bodies and pills that do everything but produce joy.
