I haven't yet put this in video form but I plan to start a little spoken word ministry and this is my first piece. Thanks for reading.

Let’s take off our fake church faces

and put them on the shelf

We all stand broken before Him,

you are only impressing yourself.

Let’s glory in our weaknesses

and know that He is strong,

and know in Him we are made sons,

and it’s by grace that we belong.

Discipleship is a process,

we work at every day,

it’s marked by setbacks, trials and defeat,

and stumbling blocks along the way,

but know that He is greater

and He chastizes whom He loves

He’s pruning you to make you fruitful,

he’s raising you above.

The path from sinner to saint

isn’t walked in a single night,

some habits can be hard to break,

some wrongs take time to right.

I’ve returned like a dog to vomit

to the sins from which I’m free,

I’ve been back in the bottle,

I’ve been back to the weed,

but something changed the day that I met God

those planted seeds took root,

I quickly realized that concerning Him

there is no substitute,

He has called me by my name

He has named me as His friend,

He bids me, drink My living waters

You will never thirst again

I will never claim to be a man

who is perfect, without sin

but my righteousness,

believe me, I have none,

that’s not what I have faith in,

I have faith in the word of God that says

I have begun My work in you

and just as I have started it,

I will surely see it through

Your faith, I am the author of

and I will see it be complete,

abide in Me, as I abide in you,

and fall down at My feet,

and I will show you things you have not known

I will shelter you in My wings

I am proud of you and how you’ve grown

I have forgotten the former things

I have loved you with a perfect love

My ear has heard you as you pray,

My heart was moved that you were willing,

though you didn’t know quite what to say

and so I bless the Lord with all my strength

His love has captured me

and though these hands are stained in sin

I have never been more free

I won’t pretend to be a perfect man

I can’t promise that I won’t fail

it’s hard to shake the world sometimes

and it’s a long hard road from hell

but I know with assurance, yes I know without a doubt

that the same one who will see me through

is the same who brought me out

I will fall but I will stand again

because I’ve never known a love like His

and one day, I will see my Maker’s face

and it’s not because of who I am...

… it’s because of who He is.

You are amazingly talented! That is very inspiring!
My favorite line is :

"I quickly realized that concerning Him

there is no substitute,"

Amen to that.

Beautiful, Blake! You've laid out the journey quit nicely. Looking forward to more!
