I'm going to stay out of "who's superior" discussion. I have my own views, but this subject never goes well.
Intelligence really depends more on the individual than anything if you ask me. There are differences between the male and female brain, as the article says--to my understanding women tend to have a harder time separating their emotions from their thought than men. (Or as the article said, women tend to lean more towards empathising than systemising. Of course, this is a generalization and isn't strictly true.)
But I don't think this has so much to do with intelligence--the ability to think, reason, and use logic. Women can and do do well in fields requiring intelligence, including scientific fields.
When we joke about men being stupid, it's simply that: a joke. I don't feel either sex is more intelligent nor made to be more intelligent than the other.
