Bible Study Adam's Rib Gives Man Dominion Over The Woman(?)

the man does NOT have to be subject to his wife?. Can you show me scripture for that?, if so then i may believe it. I am open minded but until then i dont agree.
Please go over to the section on "Parenting and Marriage" and review the thread on the submission of the wife. The Scriptures are there, whether you wish to believe them or not.

One of the few things I am gratified about modern times is women are no longer subjugated by men. Not really.

I grew up during the latest women's liberation movement (1960's-1970's). There have been at least two others I am aware of (the suffragettes @ 1900 and the Corinthian uprising some 1900 years ago). And the last two at least were legitimate movements to deal with the very unchristian way men who derived their authority from Christian principles were behaving towards their wives and children.

The Church didn't want to fool with it so the need fell upon the shoulders of malcontents, perverts, and men who used their support of the movement as just another way to fornicate. And the modern movement reflects the beliefs of many of those who did stand in the gap.

The God who put man in charge of woman gave him the responsibility to do it according to his (God's) will and principles. Notice whose prayers are not heeded in:

1 Peter 3:1-7 (KJV)
1 Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives;
2 While they behold your chaste conversation coupled with fear.
3 Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel;
4 But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.
5 For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands:
6 Even as Sara obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: whose daughters ye are, as long as ye do well, and are not afraid with any amazement.
7 Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.

Ephesians 5:25 (KJV)
25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;

Colossians 3:18-21 (KJV)
18 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord.
19 Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them.
20 Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord.
21 Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged.

Yelling, screaming, beating, cheating, drunkenness, gambling, putting women down as second class citizens, molesting them, talking inappropriately toward them... none of these things are in accord with him who gave man the authority and therefore the responsibility to lead.

And no, Reba is correct, God said women submit to your own husbands, it does not mean all men...

if it did, how can a male ever obey his mother (for example)?

Genesis 3:16 (KJV)
16 Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.

The Hebrew is IMHO terse like Klingon (yes, I'm a Trekke') the phrase reads thy desire shall be to be thy husband but he shall rule over thee...

Of the many draw backs of the modern feminist movement, trying to make men into women and women into men is most heinous. But it is prescribed as a continual contention by the text above.

The out of kilter gender situation is prophesied by:

Isaiah 4:1 (KJV)
1 And in that day seven women shall take hold of one man, saying, We will eat our own bread, and wear our own apparel: only let us be called by thy name, to take away our reproach.

seven = completeness or all
thy name = man
the reproach is how they perceive themselves as not being man

The age old adage... why did God make me this way?
Or, why did God not make me that way?

When the way God made all of us is the correct and perfect way it could have been done.

Questioning it in any way is a dissatisfaction of self will above God's will or judging from a human perspective.

God alone is God.

A thing we (who have self will) have to keep reminding ourselves if we are honest and if we want to benefit from truly submitting to God's will.

Gen 2:18 And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him..

Nope it was not the guys rib... it was sin..

Gen 3:16 Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.
