There are two hunters, one is the master and the other the servant. They hunt together and do everything together. Apart from hunting they keep animals. Some are wild and some are tame.
One day the servant didn't secure the place well. The master came home to do something but was attacked by one of the animals. The animal succeeded in biting off one of his fingers. The master was very angry and blamed the servant.
The servant, a christian, said unto the master, quoting Romans 8:28: "...all things work together for good to them that love God..."
The master grew very furious and barked at the servant. "How does that make sense to me? How is losing a finger a good thing?" the master said.
Angrily, the master went and locked up the servant.
Now the master had to go hunting alone. He started working alone. After some time his finger healed. He only has a short finger.
One day, (the servant was still in prison) the master went to hunt in the thick forest and was captured by some group of ritualists. He was taken home to the ritualists who wanted to murder him and sacrifice him to their god.
Everything ready, killing and sacrifice about to begin, the ritualists tied the master unto a tree (I think a tree or whatever - I have a faint memory of this account....so this could not be exactly the way it happened, however, it contains the information needed). They got him naked and began examining his body. Everything seemed okay. A fatted man to be slaughtered
Suddenly, one of the ritualists noticed his finger was cut and immediately cried out: "He's incomplete!"
They noticed the cut finger and immediately untied him. They said, "We don't offer unto our god an incomplete sacrifice. Send him away before he brings curse upon us."
They sent him away.
The master wnet back home. He was very happy. He had to release the servant. He told the servant the story, the servant again said: "...all things work together for good to them that love God..."
He wasn't sad this time but was surprised. He said: "I put you in prison. So, how does putting you in prison justify your claim? Does your "...all things work together for good to them that love God..." still apply?
The servant answered and said: "Yes!"
The master looked at him with disapproval. But the servant went on to say:
"We used work together and do everything together before you imprisoned me, huh?"
"Yes," he answered.
"We went hunting together. If the animal hadn't attacked you we both would have been caught and sacrifised to the god. A cut finger saved you from dying and your imprisoning me, too. If you had not imprisoned me then we both would have gone for hunting and would have been caught. They would release you, as you are incomplete and would sacrificed me."
Isn't God wonderful?
