Watched that show one time, and I could not believe what I was seeing, knowing that, that is out of character for them.
 
People will exploit anything for profit as long as there is an audience that will increase their ratings. There are many Amish that live here in Western PA as well as many places other than Lancaster and the only problem I have with them is when they travel at night they need more illumination on their buggies as I have come close many times to running into them. All Amish communities are governed by the Bishop of that community (not an Amish Mafia) and yes, like anyone else, they have problems with some of their members, but the disciplinary comes from the Bishop of the Church. They can call it reality, but it doesn't make it reality.

Then the locals in Lancaster County, Pa. should stop watching it.

There have been many buggy accidents and the buggy usually does not win against a car.
 
The Amish do not have anything to do with the world.They try and stay far away from it.They do like the tourists that buy their handmade goods.That brings them income.

The Amish are not a cult.They believe in the truth of the Bible.Although some of them are very legalistic.The Jehovah Witness deny several truths of the Bible which make them a cult.

so why do they just teach forgiveness like that the counselor that isn't isolated. I believe him.

did you read that part they don't want to have their kids educated? why they would leave. so lets get this right live in a commune. don't witness and also think you are above the law. not a cult?

They have their rules and regulations that are put on their community.The old order children go to school up to the eighth grade.There is old order and the more liberal orders.I respect the way they dress and the how forgiving they are and the fact that they do not want anything of this world in their lives.Look at this world.Smart people.
