And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.

Put On the New Self

Col 3:1 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.
Col 3:2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.
Col 3:3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.
Col 3:4 When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.
Col 3:5 Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:
Col 3:6 For which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience:
Col 3:7 In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them.
Col 3:8 But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.
Col 3:9 Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;
Col 3:10 And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:
Col 3:11 Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all.
Col 3:12 Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;
Col 3:13 Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.
Col 3:14 AND ABOVE ALL THESE THINGS PUT ON CHARITY, which is the bond of perfectness.
Col 3:15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.
Col 3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
Col 3:17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

for_his_glory "ANY UNBELIEVER CAN HAVE CHARITY FOR OTHERS. But without having faith in Christ, being God's free gift of grace, then all your doing within your acts of charity is in vain as you are serving self and your own self-righteousness."

If you put on the new self, AND ABOVE ALL THESE THINGS IS CHARITY, to put on, how does an unbeliever already HAVE CHARITY FOR OTHERS ?

Also what is testified, all old passes away and all becomes new in Jesus Christ ( Christ put on us. Romans 13:14. Galatians 3:27.)

2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;

Why do you think it is that some believers think only believers in Christ can do any good? Or that anytime they do, it is self-serving. Why do they think that atheists are trying to "earn salvation" when they don't even believe in Heaven or hell? I find it very odd. If God would say that so and so atheist, really did help an old lady across the street JUST BECAUSE SHE WAS AFRAID, would that make their world tumble down? Why does it have to be that only Christians can do any moral good? Is it threatening if a man does not believe in Jesus helps someone just because they need it? I always get the feeling that this threatens their salvation.

If you did not mind, perhaps seeing what the thread is about, it is about love no longer existing in many at this end of the world time, that is why there are many hating and betraying one another. That is why Christ tells us, in the same chapter of foretelling what occurs at this end of the world, that to escape all of this on earth, the believer must endure to the end ( in charity, as charity endures all things.

One Spirit baptizes all into one body, all have been made to drink into one Spirit.

Then all the members of the body ( of Christ.) have the SAME CARE, one for another. ( because it is that one Spirit that cares.)

Now all are the body of Christ, and are members in particular. ( to all have the same care through the love of God in them, one for another.)

They covet these gifts of God ( through the Spirit of Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour. ( as the body without Spirit is dead, being alone.) and the more excellent way is shown ( through the Spirit.)

1 Corinthians 12:13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.

1 Corinthians 12:25 That there should be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for another.

1 Corinthians 12:27 Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.

1 Corinthians 12:30 Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret?
31 But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.

Does just a believer do good, when anyone who is not a believer does good, did they do it self serving ?

An unbeliever, can give away all their goods to others( to the poor) and have not charity, and it profits them nothing. ( the unbeliever is either a Christian in name only, or an atheist in name.)

1 Corinthians 13:3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.

If someone ( Christian in name only, or atheist) helps an old lady across the street, is that doing morally good ?

Charity is kind, charity has no envy, no vaunting, no puffing up, no behaving unseemly, charity is not easily provoked, charity thinks no evil.

Charity rejoices not in iniquity ( ungodliness of the Christian in name only, or of the atheist who denies Christ.) charity rejoices in the truth ( of Jesus Christ in the Sprit of truth.)

Charity ( morals) bears all things ( for the sake of the Gospel and for Jesus Christ.) charity believes all things ( of Jesus Christ to glorify God in all things through Jesus Christ our Lord.) charity hopes all things ( we are saved by the hope of Christ, the hope of eternal life.) charity endures all ( to be saved.) and the just walk by faith. ( in charity which believes all things of Jesus Christ.)

Romans 1:17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.

1 Corinthians 13:4 Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,
5 Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;
6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;
7 Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.

Mark 8:35 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel's, the same shall save it.

1 Peter 4:11 If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

Titus 1:2 In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;

Titus 3:7 That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

Is it against the faith of Jesus Christ if someone helps another ?

Nobody helped anyone like Jesus Christ laying His life down for all, no other help, helps anyone, it is not the love of the Saviour.

All help anyone can offer to anyone else, is required again, food, clothing, drink, but what Christ gives us, is everlasting, this is the difference and why it can only come from the Lord Jesus Christ, springing up into everlasting life.

John 4:12 Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle?
13 Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again:
14 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.

Romans 5:6 For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.
7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die.
8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

This is exactly what I was saying within the verses you gave..

Those who do not believe in God or Christ Jesus, but still show charity to others and tell others they love them does not come from the love of God for they know not God.

Again as I said: "Any unbeliever can have charity for others in helping his neighbor. But without having faith in Christ, being God's free gift of grace, then all your doing within your acts of charity is in vain as you are serving self and your own self-righteousness."

If you did not mind, perhaps seeing what the thread is about, it is about love no longer existing in many at this end of the world time, that is why there are many hating and betraying one another.
I don’t see evidence of that at this point in time as compared to other generations. I don’t see any increase in hating or betraying.
That is why Christ tells us, in the same chapter of foretelling what occurs at this end of the world, that to escape all of this on earth, the believer must endure to the end ( in charity, as charity endures all things.
Enduring to the end of your days is good and necessary for sure.
One Spirit baptizes all into one body, all have been made to drink into one Spirit.

Sounds good.
Does just a believer do good, when anyone who is not a believer does good, did they do it self serving ?
Is there really a difference? I know atheists who do good and it’s not self-serving. I know Christians who offer good that benefits them.
An unbeliever, can give away all their goods to others( to the poor) and have not charity, and it profits them nothing. ( the unbeliever is either a Christian in name only, or an atheist in name.)
How about sticking to what people actually do. Who here has given away all their goods, for example? Let’s stick to real acts like donating to a relief fund or helping your neighbor mend a fence. I don’t see any difference between believers and none in these.
1 Corinthians 13:3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.
Again, what christian does this?
If someone ( Christian in name only, or atheist) helps an old lady across the street, is that doing morally good ?
To God and the woman? Yes
Charity is kind, charity has no envy, no vaunting, no puffing up, no behaving unseemly, charity is not easily provoked, charity thinks no evil.

Is it against the faith of Jesus Christ if someone helps another ?
Huh? What kind of question is that? Why ask it?
Nobody helped anyone like Jesus Christ laying His life down for all, no other help, helps anyone, it is not the love of the Saviour.
I am very sure that giving to a man in needs helps that man. I am very sure that that man and God thinks It helps people. It is a failure to acknowledge that giving a cup of cold water to a thirsty man is a good that Jesus himself said gives rewards. Do you need the scripture for that?
All help anyone can offer to anyone else, is required again, food, clothing, drink, but what Christ gives us, is everlasting, this is the difference and why it can only come from the Lord Jesus Christ, springing up into everlasting life.
To the hungry man or naked man or thirsty man, supplying that need is really a lot. I think it is not correct to make helping the hungry man or thirsty man or naked man into not helping.

Sounds good. But Jesus said he knows that we NEED material things as well. We are not gnostics who despise material matters. When he give, we are generally giving materially and God sees that and does not count it as nothing even if the material is not eternal.

Let’s stick to real acts like donating to a relief fund or helping your neighbor mend a fence. I don’t see any difference between believers and none in these.

The difference is, charity:

1 Corinthians 13:4 Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,
5 Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;
6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;
7 Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.

Charity is not as people describe it, charity is as God describes it ( God is that love)

Charity is longsuffering. ( Apostle Paul is an example of giving all away and yet having charity.)

Apostle Paul was chosen by the Lord Jesus Christ, as Jesus Christ is showing in him, all longsuffering, as a pattern to them which should afterwards believe on Christ to life everlasting. We fully know the doctrine of the Lord, the manner of life, the purpose, the faith, the longsuffering, the charity, the patience.

1 Timothy 1:16 Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting.

2 Timothy 3:10 But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity, patience,

Charity is kind.

In all things the Apostles approve themselves as the ministers of God ( to know the difference between them and the ministers of the devil, whose end is according to their works, with zero charity and without wisdom or understanding, or any truth. 2 Corinthians 11:15.) in much patience, in afflictions, in distresses, by pureness, by knowledge, by long suffering, by kindness, by the Holy Ghost, by love sincerely.

2 Corinthians 6:4 But in all things approving ourselves as the ministers of God, in much patience, in afflictions, in necessities, in distresses,
5 In stripes, in imprisonments, in tumults, in labours, in watchings, in fastings;
6 By pureness, by knowledge, by long suffering, by kindness, by the Holy Ghost, by love unfeigned,

Charity thinks no evil, ( it casts down every thought to the obedience of Christ. 2 Corinthians 10:5)

Rejoices not in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth. ( they added charity to faith, to be established in the present truth.)

2 Peter 1:7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.

2 Peter 1:12 Wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though ye know them, and be established in the present truth.

Charity bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

Galatians 6:2 Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.

Hebrews 10:22 Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.

Titus 1:1 Paul, a servant of God, and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God's elect, and the acknowledging of the truth which is after godliness;
2 In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;

Matthew 10:22 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.

Do you not understand that the word charity means love?
Only God (Gods Word) can describe to us what charity/love is.

1 John 4:8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.

If anyone does sincere acts of charity, ( love unfeigned) they do so by God dwelling in them, and them in God, there's no other way shown to man.

All other works of "charity" are not charity, when done by unbelievers, as believing and hoping all things is missing from them, as are all other things charity is ( longdsuffefringf, kindness patience etc)

1 John 4:16 And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.

Do you not understand that the word charity means love?
Charity is when you do all things possible to do, but not having charity. ( AND IT PROFITS YOU NOTHING.)

1 Corinthians 13:3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.

Do you not understand that the word charity means love?
The word charity is love, and unbelievers consider they have love and do works of the same charity.

Gods love ( true charity we have with us, in us.) is when we have believed in the love of our Saviour Jesus Christ to lay His life down for us, then His love dwells in us and is perfected in us ( charity is the bond of that perfectness, as we also lay our lives down for the brothers.)

Mans charity and mans idea of perfectness is an error, and is unbelief they display.

Colossians 3:14 And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.

1 John 3:16 Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.

1 John 4:12
No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.

One can still love and do good for others, but if they walk in unbelief then it is by their own righteous acts.

Many will be shocked that think just because they are a good person and even give all they have to others they will go to heaven, but if they have not Christ they to will be cast into the lake of fire as God never knew them. Matthew 7:21-23.

Because they are workers of iniquity ( unbelievers/ungodliness) as charity rejoices not in iniquity ( does not be an unbeliever, but rejoices in the truth.)

Matthew 7:23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

1 Corinthians 13:6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;

One cannot love and do good to others, without love dwelling in them, and them, then, dwelling in love.

An unbeliever cannot do charity, charity ( God who is love.) believes all things.

Unless you want to say that unbelievers, believe all things, then how do you think you can show an unbeliever to have charity...

CHARITY:

1 Corinthians 13:7 Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.

I am sure, others might want to know, if you consider an unbeliever, to believe all things, ( which is what charity does, and no charity/ is done without belief.) as I too will be watching to see if you might like to answer also.

Let’s stick to real acts like donating to a relief fund or helping your neighbor mend a fence. I don’t see any difference between believers and none in these.

The difference is, charity:

The reason why I press you to supply someone not in the grave but is actually LIVING OUT the commands of Jesus is that this so different than quoting tons of scripture none to little of which are actually lived out, it isn’t funny.

I can tell the difference between those who quote tons of verses but don’t actually do them and those who do them. One aspect is those who do them don’t need to copy and paste from a book. They am can recite them from life. They also don’t need anyone to site the reference when quoted.

They are alive to God, and if God is alive to us ( that we believe in the living risen Lord Jesus Christ) then the Apostles of the Lord are alive to us and just as much living examples as they always were.

Otherwise you show little belief in the living Word of God, stating how they make themselves ensamples unto us to follow them.

Also Apostle Paul ( proper title) is an example unto us all to follow, as he follows Christ.

John 6:63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

Philippians 3:17 Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an ensample.

2 Thessalonians 3:9 Not because we have not power, but to make ourselves an ensample unto you to follow us.

1 Corinthians 11:1 Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.

1 Corinthians 4:11 Even unto this present hour we both hunger, and thirst, and are naked, and are buffeted, and have no certain dwellingplace;
12 And labour, working with our own hands: being reviled, we bless; being persecuted, we suffer it:
13 Being defamed, we intreat: we are made as the filth of the world, and are the offscouring of all things unto this day.
14 I write not these things to shame you, but as my beloved sons I warn you.
15 For though ye have ten thousand instructers in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel.
16 Wherefore I beseech you, be ye followers of me.

Deceivers do not continue in the things learned and assuring us of, ( Christ risen from the dead to glory) learning them from Christ ( Christ dwells in us and teaches us and that is how we know He is alive in us.))

The Holy scriptures are able to make us wise to salvation, which is in Jesus Christ ( and Jesus Christ risen and then in us learning us in Spirit, His words gave the faith and the same words keep us in the faith.)

All scripture is by inspiration of God, they are the doctrine with power ( His word is with power and is the Spirit of truth, men's words are without power and with deceit.) giving reproof, correction, instruction in righteousness, for the man if God to be perfect, thoroughly furnished top all good works. ( in the end of the world people on the forum show they receive no correction, and also they reject Gods word prefering any other thing.)

Romans 131 Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, ( cannot be corrected) unmerciful:

Ephesians 4:20 But ye have not so learned Christ;
21 If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus:

2 Timothy 3:13 But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.
14 But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them;
15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

2 Timothy 4:1 I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;
2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine.
3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

Nevermind

This thread is for one purpose, as I already stated to the two people disputing in this thread ( for no purpose) and the threads purpose is to show only those in the charity of Christ ( love unfeigned, loving our Lord Jesus Christ in sincerity) endure to the end, as love waxes cold.

Christ abode in the Fathers love, and that is how ( same belief) we abide in His love ( all other love, of this world is temporary and so waxes cold.)

1 Corinthians 13:6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;

Matthew 24:12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.

John 15:10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love.

Jude 1:21 Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.

Even though the thread asking if an unbeliever can do good was closed, that was not my question in this thread, and it is people who tried to take over the thread for their own interest that were answered many times.
