Yep. Great author. You should read Steps to Christ. Wonderful insight and teaching.

You misunderstand my statement about my knowledge. The fact is, I do know more than a lot of people (those who only let a preacher impart knowledge to them). "A lot", doesn't mean "all people". Furthermore, I never claimed to know it all [the bible]. Having said that, I don't NEED to know ever tiny detail, of every small part, of every obscure portion, in every tiny corner, of every single story in the Old and/or New Testament to say that what I DO . . . DO . . . know is a problem with me! I hope you can understand that. You make me out as "knowing next to nothing", . . . and you are wrong about that. And I refuse to get into a "who knows more about the Bible" war because it is irrelevant. You can know EVERYTHING there is to know, . . and I only need to fine ONE problem/contradiction/issue.

The point of this thread is the video you posted that, IN MY OPINION, includes verses that are based upon vague notions. I pointed out that for the few instances of this [seemingly scientific knowledge before science discovered it], there are many more instances of completely incorrect statements about this natural world. :shrug

Do you put her writings up as high as the Bible? Is she a prophet? No need to answer the second question. From another thread, I see that you believe her to be. How about the first?

Do you place your faith in what she said as truth?

False-Prophets are dangerous and it is so strange that even though William Miller was proven to be one as he prophesised the second coming of Christ on October 22, 1844, so many people still follow what he started.
We are called to turn away from anything to do with them yet millions will continue to follow and be deceived.. :shrug

Matthew 7:15

For such things, we are called to rebuke and be no part of for there is danger of 2 Corinthians 11:14

Steve, I was curious about his religious background, and when I saw SDA, . . . and searched them on google, where it was said that they believe that only their church [the SDA] members will go to Heaven, I then began to understand the reason why he SEEMS to have a "superiority identity".

I wouldn't see Ellen White as a prophet any more than Joseph Smith.

Hi Orion..

I can only totally agree with you on that, and to such, we must turn our backs..

I spoke to two really nice believers of Joseph Smith the other week but I had to end the conversation because they would not let me in on their secret underpants doctrine and I felt a sense of deceit coming from their doctrines, as I could only be let in on the secret if I joined their Church and got Baptized..

Interesting though.. :chin

Yes, I have done a little research on the Mormons, too, and am amazed that so many people took the word of a man who, of course, WAS the only one to see these plates, . . . and the fiasco that surrounded that whole story. To me, . . . IF you add information that is subsequential to the Bible, then you would only be concluding that the Bible was deficient in some area, thus the need for an angel coming down to give NEW information about something previously unknown. In other words, the Bible wasn't perfect and a new revelation was needed. That is how I see Mormonism and SDA, and those who follow such churches.

Now, I don't see the Bible as being perfect, but at least I'm open about it! :clap

Nope.

Yes, I consider EGW to be a prophet. The Bible tells me there will be prophets so why wouldn't I believe the word of God?

1Cr 12:28 And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.

Do you place your faith in what she said as truth?
Of course. I just don't place her writings and words above the Bible.

Your statement was quite plain. No misunderstanding.

The fact is, I do know more than a lot of people (those who only let a preacher impart knowledge to them). "A lot", doesn't mean "all people". Furthermore, I never claimed to know it all [the bible].
You acted as if you know more than most. I believe you know very little compared to others.

Having said that, I don't NEED to know ever tiny detail, of every small part, of every obscure portion, in every tiny corner, of every single story in the Old and/or New Testament to say that what I DO . . . From what I have seen from other comments you have made in other forums you certainly act like a "know it all" in many threads and you have been found, to me anyway, to know very little about scripture.

The point of this thread is the video you posted that, IN MY OPINION, includes verses that are based upon vague notions.
Right, vague based on 'your' limited knowledge of scripture. Sphere or circle? Seriously? Your simply hair splitting which I see as common in most of your threads.

I pointed out that for the few instances of this [seemingly scientific knowledge before science discovered it], there are many more instances of completely incorrect statements about this natural world. :shrug
The point is that the Bible spoke of these things long before man discovered anything.

Wow, such research! :D

where it was said that they believe that only their church [the SDA] members will go to Heaven,
The SDA church does not believe that only Seventh-day Adventists will go to heaven. Comments such as this clearly show how disingenuous you are Orion.

10. Experience of Salvation:
In infinite love and mercy God made Christ, who knew no sin, to be sin for us, so that in Him we might be made the righteousness of God. Led by the Holy Spirit we sense our need, acknowledge our sinfulness, repent of our transgressions, and exercise faith in Jesus as Lord and Christ, as Substitute and Example. This faith which receives salvation comes through the divine power of the Word and is the gift of God's grace. Through Christ we are justified, adopted as God's sons and daughters, and delivered from the lordship of sin. Through the Spirit we are born again and sanctified; the Spirit renews our minds, writes God's law of love in our hearts, and we are given the power to live a holy life. Abiding in Him we become partakers of the divine nature and have the assurance of salvation now and in the judgment. (2 Cor. 5:17-21; John 3:16; Gal. 1:4; 4:4-7; Titus 3:3-7; John 16:8; Gal. 3:13, 14; 1 Peter 2:21, 22; Rom. 10:17; Luke 17:5; Mark 9:23, 24; Eph. 2:5-10; Rom. 3:21-26; Col. 1:13, 14; Rom. 8:14-17; Gal. 3:26; John 3:3-8; 1 Peter 1:23; Rom. 12:2; Heb. 8:7-12; Eze. 36:25-27; 2 Peter 1:3, 4; Rom. 8:1-4; 5:6-10.)

I then began to understand the reason why he SEEMS to have a "superiority identity".
"superiority identity"? I'm not the one who said they knew more about the Bible than most and then was found to know very little.

I wouldn't see Ellen White as a prophet any more than Joseph Smith.
You would if you knew your Bible better.

Isa 8:20 To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, [it is] because [there is] no light in them.

What an absolutely incredible contradiction! You say that adding to the Bible would be to conclude that the Bible is 'deficient' in some area and then say the Bible is imperfect! Amazing!

Such ridiculous statements tell me that you have very little knowledge of, or trust in, the word of God.

Psa 18:30 [As for] God, his way [is] perfect: the word of the LORD is tried: he [is] a buckler to all those that trust in him.

Psa 19:7 The law of the LORD [is] perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD [is] sure, making wise the simple.

Hbr 4:12 For the word of God [is] quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and [is] a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

2Ti 3:16 All scripture [is] given by inspiration of God, and [is] profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 2Ti 3:17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

Now, I have to ask, how can something deficient' (imperfect) make a man of God 'perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works'?

The point is that the Bible spoke of these things long before man discovered anything.
And it also spoke of completely NON-scientific nonsense as well. . . .so what's your point? Tell me, . . . is hail stored in a heavenly storehouse, or is it a product of tiny clumps of ice, kept aloft by strong updraughts, getting blown through freezing thunderclouds until they are heavy enough to fall to earth?

Do the lightning bolts formed in these storms wait for orders from God before striking, or are they a product of negative and positive charges?

I'm not the one who said they knew more about the Bible than most and then was found to know very little.

I certainly don't know all there is to know in the Bible, but I know more than "very little". You are misrepresenting me by your indictment against me. You aren't in the position to accuse what you DO NOT actually know. You take a FEW posts and a FEW things that I chose not to get into a "who knows more" war with you, and falsely speak. That is bearing false witness! :naughty

What an absolutely incredible contradiction! You say that adding to the Bible would be to conclude that the Bible is 'deficient' in some area and then say the Bible is imperfect! Amazing!

YOU misunderstood again. To YOU, the bible is supposed to be perfect, right? Why the need to have someone add a new revelation? Was the Bible not perfect enough that new information was needed? :confused

To me, it isn't an issue BECAUSE I don't see it as perfect. But YOU are the one with the prophetess, not me.

Right, and if you are to take the whole of scripture as literal then Lord of the rings would sound more real.
I would prefer to keep an open mind on scripture and not take it all in a literal sense than to follow a cult created by and containing false prophets.

a circle is not a sphere but a quadrants are.

Consider the line running from the North Pole to the south Pole then under and back up to the north pole. The circle of the earth, the circle of the earth (that line) hangs on nothing.

I agree but space and time is not nothing and the earth is enveloped within this force/fabric that God created. I have heard it (space/time) being likened to a kind of elastic rubber sheet with the centre causing a concave of sorts that causes the bodies to have their orbits, positions, spin..etc..

Of course, I don't know, it just sounded interesting! :eyebrow

Steve, that's the way I've seen it, as a way to visually show a representation of physics principles. A mass generating body, such as our star, bends space into a "bowl shape", and the orbiting planets, depending upon their own mass, must travel at a very specific velocity to keep from falling further into the "bowl". It's the same principle as a black hole, only the "bowl shape" is more like an exponential curve to the center.

Again, that's just a visual for referencing gravitational pulls.

That's right, same idea Orion... I liken it also to when you have a sink full of water and you pull the plug. The hole where the water goes down creates the whirlpool effect similar to what a black hole does at (i think) the centre of a galaxy.. ;)
What an amazing mystery it is. I have a great book on the universe, with photos from the hubble telescope....Absolutely amazingly breathtaking! :o

Sorry about that RND, my mistake, I think we may have got off to a bad start there, and I incorrectly assumed... :gah
