Do you put her writings up as high as the Bible? Is she a prophet? No need to answer the second question. From another thread, I see that you believe her to be. How about the first?
Do you place your faith in what she said as truth?
Orion said:Steve, I was curious about his religious background, and when I saw SDA, . . . and searched them on google, where it was said that they believe that only their church [the SDA] members will go to Heaven, I then began to understand the reason why he SEEMS to have a "superiority identity".
I wouldn't see Ellen White as a prophet any more than Joseph Smith.
Nope.Orion said:Do you put her writings up as high as the Bible?
Yes, I consider EGW to be a prophet. The Bible tells me there will be prophets so why wouldn't I believe the word of God?Is she a prophet? No need to answer the second question. From another thread, I see that you believe her to be. How about the first?
Of course. I just don't place her writings and words above the Bible.Do you place your faith in what she said as truth?
Your statement was quite plain. No misunderstanding.Orion said:You misunderstand my statement about my knowledge.
You acted as if you know more than most. I believe you know very little compared to others. The fact is, I do know more than a lot of people (those who only let a preacher impart knowledge to them). "A lot", doesn't mean "all people". Furthermore, I never claimed to know it all [the bible].
From what I have seen from other comments you have made in other forums you certainly act like a "know it all" in many threads and you have been found, to me anyway, to know very little about scripture.Having said that, I don't NEED to know ever tiny detail, of every small part, of every obscure portion, in every tiny corner, of every single story in the Old and/or New Testament to say that what I DO . . . DO . . . know is a problem with me! I hope you can understand that. You make me out as "knowing next to nothing", . . . and you are wrong about that. And I refuse to get into a "who knows more about the Bible" war because it is irrelevant. You can know EVERYTHING there is to know, . . and I only need to fine ONE problem/contradiction/issue.
Right, vague based on 'your' limited knowledge of scripture. Sphere or circle? Seriously? Your simply hair splitting which I see as common in most of your threads. The point of this thread is the video you posted that, IN MY OPINION, includes verses that are based upon vague notions.
The point is that the Bible spoke of these things long before man discovered anything.I pointed out that for the few instances of this [seemingly scientific knowledge before science discovered it], there are many more instances of completely incorrect statements about this natural world.
Wow, such research! :DOrion said:Steve, I was curious about his religious background, and when I saw SDA, . . . and searched them on google,
The SDA church does not believe that only Seventh-day Adventists will go to heaven. Comments such as this clearly show how disingenuous you are Orion.where it was said that they believe that only their church [the SDA] members will go to Heaven,
"superiority identity"? I'm not the one who said they knew more about the Bible than most and then was found to know very little.I then began to understand the reason why he SEEMS to have a "superiority identity".
You would if you knew your Bible better.I wouldn't see Ellen White as a prophet any more than Joseph Smith.
What an absolutely incredible contradiction! You say that adding to the Bible would be to conclude that the Bible is 'deficient' in some area and then say the Bible is imperfect! Amazing!Orion said:Yes, I have done a little research on the Mormons, too, and am amazed that so many people took the word of a man who, of course, WAS the only one to see these plates, . . . and the fiasco that surrounded that whole story. To me, . . . IF you add information that is subsequential to the Bible, then you would only be concluding that the Bible was deficient in some area, thus the need for an angel coming down to give NEW information about something previously unknown. In other words, the Bible wasn't perfect and a new revelation was needed. That is how I see Mormonism and SDA, and those who follow such churches.
Now, I don't see the Bible as being perfect, but at least I'm open about it!
And it also spoke of completely NON-scientific nonsense as well. . . .so what's your point? Tell me, . . . is hail stored in a heavenly storehouse, or is it a product of tiny clumps of ice, kept aloft by strong updraughts, getting blown through freezing thunderclouds until they are heavy enough to fall to earth? The point is that the Bible spoke of these things long before man discovered anything.
I'm not the one who said they knew more about the Bible than most and then was found to know very little.

Consider the line running from the North Pole to the south Pole then under and back up to the north pole. The circle of the earth, the circle of the earth (that line) hangs on nothing.
Orion said:Steve, that's the way I've seen it, as a way to visually show a representation of physics principles. A mass generating body, such as our star, bends space into a "bowl shape", and the orbiting planets, depending upon their own mass, must travel at a very specific velocity to keep from falling further into the "bowl". It's the same principle as a black hole, only the "bowl shape" is more like an exponential curve to the center.
Again, that's just a visual for referencing gravitational pulls.
Steve, I don't look at scripture as just literal. There are many different type of applications and meanings.Steve76 said:Right, and if you are to take the whole of scripture as literal then Lord of the rings would sound more real.
I would prefer to keep an open mind on scripture and not take it all in a literal sense than to follow a cult created by and containing false prophets.
