Angels Do Not Have Sex

Angels Do Not Have Sex
Back around in the mid 90's I had a little debate with a preacher about Genesis 6:1-4. First of all angels don't have reproductive organs and they don't have blood' sperm has blood. and another thing' if they were good angels they could never do this sin. And bad angels would never be called the sons of God. So why is this lie still around' your guess is as good as mine. This just goes to show you about the wrong doctrine that man will teach you.

How do you know this? Is there something in the bible that mentions reproductive organs and angels?

I see three problems with your reasoning...
  1. Nothing in the Bible says that angels don't have reproductive organs.
  2. Nothing in the Bible says that angels don't have blood.
  3. Sperm doesn't have blood.
I agree with your conclusion, but I'm afraid your line of reasoning doesn't work.

Just a thought here; angels were created as spirits (Heb.1:14) and I always wondered whether they simply possessed men and then took wives (Gen.6:4). Or perhaps they are properly equipped to do the job themselves. But the Bible is silent on that issue so I suppose it's all speculation. Either way the bible is true and God is amazing.

1. In the bible it mentions angels eating and drinking as well as being in danger of being raped. I'm not sure how this excludes them from sexual ability. It is also mentioned that the angels that are in heaven don't wed(have sex). It is not clear that other angels don't or that they don't have ability.

2. The sons of God reference is the same in Job as it is in Genesis. Satan accompanies them so I guess they are buddies with Satan and they are still called sons of God.

In the end, the truth is what ever you think it is. I know it helps some feel more comforted that God only committed genocide to the whole world for the flood and after that, had his chosen people genocide entire peoples because they had tainted hybrid genes which I guess is supposedly really bad and not allowed, thus the justification.

There were giants on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of men and they bore children to them. Those were the mighty men who were of old, men of renown.Genesis 6:4

Who were the sons of God in this verse.

Men or angels?

A son of God is a designation given to those that have been directly created or begotten of God.

Jesus is the only begotten of The Father.

34 the son of Jacob, the son of Isaac, the son of Abraham, the son of Terah, the son of Nahor, 35 the son of Serug, the son of Reu, the son of Peleg, the son of Eber, the son of Shelah, 36 the son of Cainan, the son of Arphaxad, the son of Shem, the son of Noah, the son of Lamech, 37 the son of Methuselah, the son of Enoch, the son of Jared, the son of Mahalalel, the son of Cainan, 38 the son of Enos, the son of Seth, the son of Adam, the son of God. Luke 3:34-38

Adam was created directly by God, as he was called a son of God.

Adams sons were not called sons of God but sons and daughters of man [Adam].

Unless you can show us a scripture that says man begat a son of God, then the sons of God in Genesis 6 are angels who were created directly by God.

That does seem to be what it says. Not my words, the Lords. Other scriptures seem to back it up. Do you have any scriptures at all to back your presumptions Lewis? I've studied this, prayed about it, considered others theories...nothing seems as concrete as what the text says.

FWIW, the word study I did awhile back concluded the term 'sons of God' to mean a directly created being from the Lord. Angels are, Adam was, we are sons of men.

Plus, keep in mind that the fallenones left their own habitation (bodies) so who knows what where to or what was possible after that.

No, angels did not have sex with women. Nor did demons, nor is one word "thrown" into the Bible. When the meaning of a particular passage escapes our understanding, why is it the Bible's fault? After all, we can go to the moon, right?

Genesis 6:4 is one of the most controversial passages in the Bible. As with any difficult passage of scripture, it has been open to a wide variety of interpretations. It is my conviction however, that those who hold consistently to a biblical worldview must reject the notion that women and demons can engage in sexual relations. I reject this interjection of pagan superstition into the Scriptures for the following reasons.

First and foremost, the notion that demons can “produce” real bodies and have real sex with real women would invalidate Jesus’ argument for the authenticity of his resurrection. Jesus assured his disciples that “a spirit does not have flesh and bones, as you see I have” (Luke 24:39, NKJV). If indeed a demon could produce flesh and bones Jesus’ arguments would not only be flawed, it would be misleading. In fact, it might be logically argued that the disciples did not see the postresurrection appearances of Christ but rather a demon masquerading as the resurrected Christ.

Furthermore, demons are nonsexual nonphysical beings and as such are incapable of having sexual relations and producing physical offspring. To say that demons can create bodies with DNA and fertile sperm is to say that demons have creative power—which is an exclusively divine prerogative. If demons could have sex with women in ancient times, we would have no assurance they could not do so in modern times. Nor would we have any guarantee that the people we encounter every day are fully human. While a biblical worldview does allow for fallen angels to POSSESS unsaved human beings, it does not support the notion that a demon-possessed person can produce offspring that are part-demon, part-human. Genesis 1 makes it clear that all of God’s living creations are designed to reproduce “according to their own kinds.”

Finally, the mutant theory creates serious questions pertaining to the spiritual accountability of hypothetical demon-humans and their relation to humanity’s redemption. Angels rebelled individually, are judged individually, and are offered no plan of redemption in Scripture. On the other hand, humans fell corporately in Adam, are judged corporately in Adam, and are redeemed corporately through Jesus Christ. We have no biblical way of determining what category the demon-humans would fit into—whether they would be judged as angels or as men, or more significantly, whether they might even be among those for whom Christ died.

I believe the better interpretation is that “sons of God” simply refers to the godly descendants of Seth, and “daughters of men” to the ungodly descendants of Cain. Their cohabitation caused humanity to fall into such utter depravity that God said: “I will wipe mankind, whom I have created, from the face of the earth—men and animals, and creatures that move along the ground, and birds of the air—for I am grieved that I have made them. But Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord” (Genesis 6:7-8).

God standeth in the congregation of the mighty; he judgeth among the gods.

2 How long will ye judge unjustly, and accept the persons of the wicked? Selah.

3 Defend the poor and fatherless: do justice to the afflicted and needy.

4 Deliver the poor and needy: rid them out of the hand of the wicked.

5 They know not, neither will they understand; they walk on in darkness: all the foundations of the earth are out of course.

6 I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High.

7 But ye shall die like men, and fall like one of the princes.

8 Arise, O God, judge the earth: for thou shalt inherit all nations.

Adam was created by God.

Seth was begotten of man.

Only when we are born again are we declared to be "born of God".

Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves Him who begot also loves him who is begotten of Him. 1 John 5:1

Flesh gives birth to flesh.

The Spirit gives birth to spirit.

The daughters of men is a reference to women who were begotten of men.

sons of God is a reference of those who were created by God.

Jesus is the only Begotten of the Father.
