Sometime ago I was reading the new testament where the Apostle Paul likened the Christian to a soldier. Here are a few thoughts of mine.

  • A soldier is not coerced to join the army it is a choice that he makes
  • A soldier must be willing to fight even if he loses his life
  • A soldier must endure hardship
  • A soldier must be single focus, the things of the world must be put away for the job at hand
  • A soldier must follow instructions and be disciplined
  • Once you have made your choice there is no turning back.
  • There is a penalty for desertion.

I am a soldier in the army of my God.
The Lord Jesus Christ is my Commanding Officer.
The Holy Scripture is my code of conduct.
Faith, prayer, and the Word are my weapons of warfare.
I have been taught by the Holy Spirit,
trained by experience,
and tested by fire.

I am a volunteer in this army,
and I am enlisted for eternity.
I will not get out, sell out, talked out, or pushed out.
I am faithful, reliable, capable, and dependable.
If my God needs me, I am there.
I do not need to be pampered, petted, primed up, pumped up, or pepped up.
No one has to call me, remind me, write me, visit me, entice me, or lure me.

I am not a wimp.
I am in place, saluting my King, obeying his orders, praising his name, and building his kingdom.
No one has to send me flowers, gifts, food, cards, or candy, or give me handouts.
I do not need to be cuddled, cradled, cared for, or catered to.
I cannot have my feelings hurt bad enough to turn me around.
I cannot be discouraged enough to turn me around.
I cannot lose enough to cause me to quit.

I am a soldier for Christ.
My God has and will continue to supply all of my need.
I am more than a conqueror.
I will always triumph.
I can do all things through Christ.
The devil cannot defeat me.
People cannot disillusion me.
Weather cannot weary me.
Sickness cannot stop me.
Battles cannot beat me.
Money cannot buy me.
Governments cannot silence me, and hell cannot handle me.

Even death cannot destroy me.
I am a soldier for Christ, and I'm marching claiming victory.
I will not give up, I will not turn around.
I am a soldier, marching heaven-bound.
Here I stand!
Will you stand with me?

I love this thanks for sharing.

Soldiers kill people, what about that part?
Soldiers follow orders.
Jesus does not tell us to kill people but rather to love our enemy.
Well, I suppose I could kill them with faith, prayer, and Scripture.

yes but not like a soldiers follows orders. the Lord doesn't use ncos and officers as in the old days and even now. pastors don't bark orders nor have that level of power of you. you submit to god and he does some of that directly.theres is a SUPPRESION of indivualism for the army, not so much with the lord's army. yes we do deny ourselves and do some of that but not like that.

Soldiers kill people, what about that part?
These are the enemies that the soldier of Christ wars against:

"19...sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; 20 idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions 21 and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like." (Galatians 5:19-21 NIV)

We are to kill without mercy all traces of these personifications of evil in ourselves.

Great analogy. Our weapons are not carnal but spiritual in nature. According to Ephesians 6:14-20 our weapons are truth, righteousness, the gospels of peace, salvation, the spirit, and prayer. That is how we are Christians fight our battles.

Mat_10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

Ms. Sandy:

Ephesians 6 is a great chapter.

There was a guy called William Gurnall who wrote a book about the Christian's Complete Armor, based on Ephesians 6.

Blessings.
