i take no pleasure in this. seriously. here's a link: https://www.umnews.org/en/news/former-megachurch-pastor-gets-6-years-in-prison
I just...wow. wow. as a Christian who is currently un-churched (a lot of that has to do with my backstory and current stigmatized social identity...its not that I'm "too good for church" or anything...), this is disheartening, to put it mildly.
do you think maybe the megachurch concept is just...a failure, overall? maybe time to go for smaller churches, try to get a sense of community -within- the church and get the church to be more active in local communities, just...smaller churches, smaller scale?
the other issue is what's going on with the established church, -in general- . were things always so...hate to say it, but....shady? maybe its just now coming to light? or are things actually, truly getting worse at all levels in the established church?
politics, politics, politics...seem to play out whenever there are -people- , and that includes churches, too. here's a link to a left wing analysis of some of the problems facing the Catholic Church. apparently, the hard right does -not- care for Pope Francis (why am I not surprised?). be warned; it contains some vulgar language...
