I was going to see that, but never got around to it...thanks for reminding me of it, I'l see if I can get it.

The reason for this thread is when I posted this I just got done watching on Chill channel " Even scarier movie moments.
There were some I never heard of but boy were they scary or gory! another reason I'm still posting is I thought I better stay awake for a little while longer after watching it! :crazy

Yes I am a big fan and my favorites are old Dracula movies Christopher Lee, and I like the new ones too. Better yet, I just like horror movies. I have heard people say Christians should not watch them kind of movies. None of these movies has ever made me sin.

Yes. I love horror movies because they make me look at things in a new way or are just plain awesome. :yes

Saw 1-3 (I didn't care for 4 or 5 though, it was really getting out there)
The Invisible Man, War of the worlds (original) H.G. Wells is practically the Steam Punk King. :lol
The Creature from the Black Lagoon ( I'm hoping the remake is good)
Se7en, Panic Room, Puppet Master 3, Dracula, Aliens,Silence of the Lambs, and Freddy Vs. Jason.

Movies I hate

Hostel ( an excuse for a snuff film, and overly gory), Texas Chainsaw Massacre the Beginning ( more pointless killing with gore for the sake of Gore), War of the worlds ( remake), and Godzilla (usa) ( Japan got their revenge in Zilla's final movie though :lol )

I hate horror movies, especially those with senseless gore and psycho killing. I see no point in them other than to peak our morbid interest and feed our desire for "harmless" fantasy. There is nothing harmless in viewing senseless killing and bloody gore, no matter how fake it is. Watching these things desensitizes the mind and invites darkness into the heart. Sorry guys, but horror movies are evil.

I think it depends on the indivual person. By watching them, you are not condoning sensless violence, and I have not fallen into sin watching any horror films. Maybe you do, I don't know. But it depends on us as indivudals. Remember that it is fiction.

Nick, I can't say that horror movies have ever caused me to sin because I don't watch them. I turn my head away or turn the channel when there's even a commercial trailer on the TV. But I think it's more than individual choice or individual strength. In my opinion, horror movies are just another tool of Satan to get us desensitized to evil. And it works. When Christians can sit through two hours of bloody senseless killing and not feel traumatized or oppressed then they can consider themselves pretty desensitized.

Agreed.

2Timothy 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

Watching horror movie seeds fear in our mind somehow, unconciously.

To him that esteems it to be sin it is. That is a principle that Paul was talking about in Romans 14. Not everybody has a problem with it, but if you do, then you do. And if you do, you should not watch it, I myself love horror movies, and watching them has done nothing to me. And the Alien movies, are one of my all time favorite movies

I didn't necessarily mean sin, but rather, I think it to be spiritually unhealthy

yes, i see your point but each person must decide for himself on that,i agree with jojo wholeheartedly, and was going to say what you did, but i already have the reputation as a legalistic pov to some, and while untrue, i dont want others to think that you can't have any form of entertaiment at all.

Well, naturally. I certainly don't mean to tell anyone how to live. I just have strong feelings about this and don't mind voicing my opinion. I've seen firsthand what certain evil forms of entertainment can do to someone. It's not pretty. Evil is not fun, it is not harmless.

Jo Jo, I love you girl, and I respect you. But on another note, I think that it is, where you are at, in your spiritual walk, a well grounded Christian will have no problem watching horror flicks. This stuff does not shake my faith, and mostly all of the flicks are about good verses evil, and 99 percent of the time good wins. I'll say it again good wins. And I am always rooting for the evil to be stamped out in the flick, and 99 percent of the time, it does.
