Hi Lewis, I play the piano by ear, but I don't read notes. I can sit down and pick out songs and I can make up songs. It's a good stress reliever, but if someone tries to teach me a note ....FORGET IT!
I have a digital piano that has some great sound effects, but I would rather have a piano. Maybe one of these days i'll get one.
Hi Destiny, how long have you been playing ? many musicians play by ear, I don't read that good at all. I play by what I hear and feel. So feel free to post and ask qustions there. I created 3 keyboard threads there. I think I will add one for horns and one for singers. And that should do it.
We always had an old upright piano in the house growing up. My sister and I would bang on it all the time and pretend to be famous singers.
I took piano a little while in elemtary school but I hated it, I soon figured out that I could play the same songs without having to learn the notes if I sat and picked long enough....So I quit my piano lessons.

But it sure would be nice to have a....

Yamaha C3 - 6' 1" Conservatory Collection Grand Piano :D
(can't afford it!!)

:-D Very same piano we have in the Sanctuary at our church. Nice. Yahama is good... I own a Yamaha accoustic guitar. 8-)

My sons have a Yamaha Drum set, and I have yamahardofhearing now!

I had a Yamaha Roadstar motorcycle that proved how hard-headed I was! :D

My husband rode a Yamaha 700 motorcycle back and forth to work right after we got married.
It seemed on average he got a speeding ticket every month.
It would have been fine if he would have solwed down because that thing was really costing us money that we didn't have.
Finally, after much 'discussion'...it went bye bye. :D

Corrie Ten Boom was one great example. :D

In all my 22 years of guitar playing, I could probably count on one hand the amount of decent Yamahas worthy of playing...sorry Vic.

I would suggest a Larrivee, Thompson or Taylor....or a pre-1990 Martin, or a Gallagher, or a Bourgeois, or a. Collings or a...

Hey, back in '89 it was all I could afford at the time. In the 250-300 price range, it was the best of the bunch and the best of of four Yamaha's of the same model. It isn't really that bad for it's price and has served me well over the last 16-17 years.

Also, not to drop names, but the likes of Rik Emmit, Neil Schon to mention a few, are using Yamaha accoustics.

I will take a nice Takamine though. ;-)

:o $250-300??? Vic, that's FIREWOOD!!

Unless you're dropping at least $1200-3000...fugedabowdit!!

The high end Takamines are nice. Other than the Taylors, I think Takamine's have the best sound with pick-ups

Vic, I love Neil Schon, I have been a fan of his from the time he started out with Santana at the age of 19, I think he was. One time Eric Clapton was being interviewd, and he was asked who do you think is the best guitar player out there and who would you like to play with. And Eric's exact words were, that cat
Neil Schon. Neil could bring great riffs or solos out of his soul. Got to see him with Santana in 1973 I think it was, or 74. But anyway Santana stayed back there close to the marshall amps, and Neil took center stage for most of the show, and when he would solo, we would go crazy. Great show.

I used to sing in my younger days... I dabble a little bit in electronic music creation... not really a musician though.

I also did ventriloquism in my younger days... but thats not music related either. Currently I'm retired though...

i sing in my worship group and i see my voice as an instrument as much as a guitar/drums/bass/keyboard etc... is

I'm a guitar-player/singer and am the music coordinator of my church. I also create backing tracks on my Yamaha QY300 music sequencer.

Not Christian music. I play guitar. Incidentally, the first time my Pastor friend came over to stay with us he gave us a lasting memory when he came down the stairs srtumming his guitar and singing the lyrics to 'I wanna be sedated' :) One of those useful reminders that religious leaders are human beings too. :D
