Are They Crazy ?

Are these people crazy a 500 buck flash drive ? I have a 4 gb and I payed 30 dollars for it. These companies just commit highway robbery, on people, and the prices will drop after a while. But 500 bucks for a 128 GB USB flash drive is stupid, to say the least.

Kingston has introduced world's first 128GB USB drive. This 128GB drive joins Kingston's DataTraveler 200 series drives with 32GB and 64GB capacity. Kingston will be offering new DataTraveler 200 USB drives at $120 for 32GB, $213 for 64GB and whopping $546 for 128GB. Now seriously, one can buy a standard netbook for the price of 128GB USB drive.

Kingston's new DT200 USB drives features Password Traveler, a password protection feature for protecting critical data inside. The capless design features slide-in feature to protect the USB connector.

All new 32GB, 64GB and 128GB DT200 USB flash drives are certified for Windows Vista and enhanced for Windows ReadyBoost feature. Windows ReadyBoost is available in Windows Vista and Windows 7 to use any USB flash drive as a drive for system disk cache to improve the performance. However, it should be noted that Password Traveler won't operate properly if Windows ReadyBoost feature is in use.

Another company called EdgeTech has also come out with cheaper DiskGO 128GB USB flash drive for $390.

yep, that's pretty crazy alright. I recently paid $50 for my 16gig flash drive.

Now I'm looking at a 500gig portable hard drive - that'll cost no more than $200.

You can get, for less than $600, a 1TB external hard drive, with wireless networking and auto backups.

so yeah, it's a pretty big rip-off. :crazy

Fond Memories of Vista

What's the #1 question that Microsoft Technical Support has gotten for the last two years?

How do I get my money back?

What 's the first error message you get with Vista?

Vista has been installed

What was the original advertising slogan for Vista?

Where do you want to crash today?

What was the second-place name for Windows 7?

Hasta la Vista

I think that flash drives should only be used to carry essential information for a limited period of time. To put 128 GB worth of information on a small drive that could easily be lost gives someone else 128 GB of your information. I use a 4 GB to transfer working files from my work desktop to my laptop so I can work from home but that is it. I don't leave any of those files on there as it would cost the company dearly (probably sink it) if put into the right hands.

Free, I use Quicken 2002 for my financial records. It works fine, and I don't need to buy a newer version. It is designed to store information on a floppy drive, but it stores it on a flash drive without any trouble. Every few months, I back up onto a floppy drive in case the flash drive fails.

Thanks Vic, but that's not an Australian store, and with surrency costs wouldn't work out....but there are australian online stores just like that where I could get it near that price, but the fact is that it's more expensive over here. :crying

Thanks anyway

I don't think so. But we've got ebay! :lol. ht.com.au is quite good, but I'll keep looking round. I'm actually saving up for a new cymbol set at the moment, but I will need this hard drive soon.
