I had seen on one forum a few years back that when the talk of being judged with more condemnation that some people said teachers are like Copeland or MacArthur but people on a forum are not in that group....

I see it as any believer who tells another person what the scriptures mean is a teacher.

Wondered how others saw themselves...

Less puffed up than in my earlier years in Christ. Real world 🗺️ hits etc. I’m pretty open about my leanings with scripture and in general so I don’t view myself as a teacher 👨‍🏫 .

If one is instructing another, one is a teacher and under :-

Matthew 18:6-7 New International Version Causing to Stumble

6 “If anyone causes one of these little ones—those who believe in me—to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea. 7 Woe to the world because of the things that cause people to stumble! Such things must come, but woe to the person through whom they come!

Teacher is an official spiritual office that only some believers are called and gifted to hold. That is probably what the person was referring to who said people in forums are not teachers. They are not teachers in that sense. And I agree to a large extent. But that doesn't mean we can't teach other, we just don't have an official spiritual calling and gift to be in the office of teacher. In the passage below we see the distinction Paul makes between us being able to teach other, and the grace (gift) he has been given to be a minister of Christ Jesus:

14I myself am convinced, my brothers, that you yourselves are full of goodness, brimming with knowledge, and able to instruct one another. 15However, I have written you a bold reminder on some points, because of the grace God has given me 16to be a minister of Christ Jesus... Romans 15:14-16

You don't have to be a teacher, official or not, to say something that causes someone who believes in Jesus to stumble so as to go to the fiery place.

I see it as in discussion forums we are sharing our understanding of scripture as we discuss many topics in hopes of showing others something they possibly never saw or understood before, which is different then being called and anointed by the Holy Spirit as part of the Spiritual gifts of being a teacher.

I ask the questions about spiritual gifts and offices every once in a great while. Ephesians 4, 1 Corinthians 12 etc.

Every time I think I will get a handle on it all, the seeing through a glass darkly seems to hit.

The thunders were sealed back up, and all the spiritual gifts seem to be the same way. I wind up at the bottom end. We are to seek the higher gifts though. King David sought to elevate the heart. We seek to see the mind elevated (with the mind of Christ he places in us?). How wide do we open the door?

Hey All,
We can tell others about Jesus and without being pastors or teachers.
As Peter said:
1 Peter 3:15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:

The best teachers I ever had were those who walked the walk. Were they perfect? Of course not. But when they made mistakes, they owned them. When they were wrong, or wronged someone else, they made amends. When they gave their word, they kept it. They were polite, kind, and watched their language. Their lifestyle, their actions, taught others without them saying a word. This is what Paul told Timothy:
1 Timothy 4:12 Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.

In word, yes of course, as Peter tells us. But the example is where the word gets put into action. Think of it this way, your actions are testimony of your faith.
I know I sound like a broken record when I keep repeating the following principles: (You know about the 4 spiritual laws. These are my 4 spiritual actions.) But they work.
1. Stay on the straight and narrow.
2. Keep your head up.
3. Put on your armor.
4. Keep walking.
Do these and watch what happens.
I hope this helps. Keep walking everybody.
May God bless,
Taz

Jesus Christ is the true witness, because He did truth, not words of love, not wrong testimony, but truth of being light and no darkness at all.

An example of the true light shining, cant come from darkness, so it comes from the same light, or it would be a different light and different testimony.

So there is one Spirit, and one following, the ten thousand teachers are not to be believed or followed, if they are different to this testimony. ( it is the truth, and nothing else is)

Matthew 8:19 And a certain scribe came, and said unto him, Master, I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest.
20 And Jesus saith unto him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head.

Mark 10:28 Then Peter began to say unto him, Lo, we have left all, and have followed thee.

Philippians 3:8 Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,

Philippians 3:17 Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an ensample.
18 (For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ:
19 Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.)

1 Corinthians 4:11 Even unto this present hour we both hunger, and thirst, and are naked, and are buffeted, and have no certain dwellingplace;
12 And labour, working with our own hands: being reviled, we bless; being persecuted, we suffer it:
13 Being defamed, we intreat: we are made as the filth of the world, and are the offscouring of all things unto this day.
14 I write not these things to shame you, but as my beloved sons I warn you.
15 For though ye have ten thousand instructers in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel.
16 Wherefore I beseech you, be ye followers of me.

1 Corinthians 11:1 Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.

So all teachers who mind earthly things, should be heard in what ?

But Jesus Christ teaches us nothing earthly, and if anyone did all things of faith, understood all mysteries and all knowledge, but had not charity, they also are nothing.

Charity, as we are testified to be taught by Jesus Christ, never fails. ( putting on charity is being taught truly.)

The entrance into the everlasting Kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, is by faith in what we are testified by Him, not by anyone or anything else after all. ( Christ died for us, nobody else did.)

1 Corinthians 13:2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.
3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.
4 Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,
5 Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;
6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;
7 Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.

Colossians 3:12 Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;
13 Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.
14 And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.

2 Peter 1:7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.
8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
9 But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.
10 Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:
11 For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
