Growth Are you willing to die to Live?

"Most assuredly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much grain." John 12:24

Consider a grain of wheat. If that small seed remains cool and dry, it will stay safe and dormant. But in that "safe and secure" environment it will remain unproductive. However, if that same seed is buried in damp soil, it begins to decay and die. In a miracle of new life, the kernel breaks open, roots grow downward into the earth, and a sprout posed upward. A new plant soon emerges through the surface and then grows rapidly. The new plant now produces many more kernels of wheat.

The kernel of wheat became a new plant because it died. We must also die in order to live. We must die to ourselves in order to produce fruit for the Kingdom of God. By dying to sin, self, and the world, we are freed from sin's bondage and also its wages, which is death. By our risen life in Christ, and by being deeply rooted in the nourishment of God's Word, we can flourish in our spiritual life. The we can go on to produce a great harvest for God.

:goodposthere's some supporting scriptures that will bring further study on this topic: John 3:3-7; Matthew 16:24-25; Luke 14:27; Romans 6:4-8; Galatians 2:20

Salvation is free; it costs you nothing.

Following Christ will eventually cost you something.

We learn from the scriptures that Job was a perfect and righteous man. Yet he loss all of his children!

As I stated before all Christians will be tested; some at different levels. It is at this time many Christians take up their cross and follow Jesus. This is called dying to self. You learn the true meaning to absolute surrender to Jesus.

If we believe in something we can't stay safe and secure. We must proclaim it. If we believe in Christ we must proclaim the good news of His death and resurrection. "The harvest is truly ripe, but the laborers are few." Matthew 9:37 NKJ How many of us fear laboring for Jesus because we might have to die to ourselves and face persecution because of our testimony?
