Losing a Scrabble game online. My ego is deflated. Poor me. Oh he just got better letters. I was unlucky. Normally I would win .
Sore loser. Humble Soul a sore loser.
As I watch my ego play childish games.
Buddhism says we are not our ego. Buddhism says we are not anything. We shouldn't identify with anything. Then we can never be offended. Me doesn't exist.
This belief bothered me. One reason I returned to Christianity. Isn't "me" sacred?
"Me" does exist .
But then Merton's true self and false self. Richard Rohr talks about this too. The only precious self is the true self. The false self is fake. It's the ego.

We all need a reality check every once in a while to examine our self-esteem and to know we are alright with our self.
