I went through and old box and found an award I received when I was about 14yo that I do not want to acknowledge so I ripped it up and threw it in the garbage.

When I played football I was always in top 1st division, and when I moved and changed clubs they had no idea and put me auto in the 3rd division because I missed trials, and I got an award for highest scorer of the season in the league. I actually remember that season, I was scoring goals from half way. The hardest part is playing with a team who are amateurs against amateurs.

I mean it's just not right, why should I receive an award for highest scorer when the opponents were amateur and I played rep football. It's not really valid. Its in the garbage. Obviously the next season I was back in 1st division.

Ever had an award you think should go in the garbage?

The amateur keepers and defenders who actually saved goals and me from scoring were way more achieved and deserve the award than me as the highest point scorer. That was when I was peaking and played national reps.

In the garbage goes my award. Burnt in the fire.

Who was the runner up for the award?
Maybe tell him how you feel about it.

It was like nearly 30 years so its way past. I have no idea who got second highest point scorer in the league, I probably could not even name everyone in my team.

I mean my point was if I was a top player and played against amateurs, even everyone is just having a good time that's great people have fun and also learn and better themselves, would I really want to receive an award, I mean I did not achieve anything. If I was playing first division and got highest point scorer in the league maybe, because im playing the best so that would be an achievement. Knowing I'm playing weak players is not an achievement if I get lots of points. I'm a better player, more skilled and experienced, it's just a fact.

Maybe you could do some internet research...
Just saying...just about everything is on the internet these days...do a few google searches. Might be surprised what you can find out.

When you start playing rep football in your teens that's when the game changes and it goes from you just want to play, to, its not about you anymore. It's about competition and winning.

When I played top division in my teens I used to be on the side bench near every game and would only play last 20, the reason was because I had speed that was my power so the coach thought it was best I play the last 20.

The other teams defenders are tired after 60 I go on fresh last 20 and have speed because I was super fast, can get points. Sometimes I would get full second half depends who was playing against.

But because I enjoyed the game I wanted a full 80 and I could play it but it's never about you when you play top division. It's all strategy and technique.

I think I have thrown out those "participation" ribbons, because they didn't mean much to me.

Participation ribbons, where everyone is a winner. Lol. It's true thou, you never achieve anything with a participation award.

The only people who earn a participation award are lazy procrastinators who actually achieved getting off the couch and acturaly done something. Here is your achievement award, you acturally turned up.

Anyone who actually turns up achieves something, they still learn something, or got little more excersise, a bit more experience, but it's not award worthy.

I threw out an award because I didn't like the people on my team. We won, but I didn't like them. Not particularly traumatizing, but I feel no need to hold on to that memory, either.

There is no "I" in "Team". The team you played in won even if you did not like your fellow players. It was not a individual sport. All the teams skills and the coach's strategies were better than the other teams coaches strategies, and you won as a team.

All though my years there were some players the whole season where there was no more than a "hi" the whole season , but we played as a team each player had there position and played there game, I don't even think ever we even lost a league season in 20 years playing. Every club and team I ever joined we won every season.

In my entire history of playing club football never lost a season, first place every year. I remember losing one in a national weekend tournament once. But we won all the other national weekend tournaments I ever played.

The best coach I ever had and I played for him for a few years, and a couple of years he was not my coach and coached first division two years senior, and sometimes after my game I would jump in and play for the 1st division two years my senior as they played there game after us on home soil.

That was really tough, but a good challenge. I would be placed as defender but I was never a defender.

One day I seen coach as he turned up to a party at my friend's house years later when I quit because he was friends of the family of the party, and I was smoking and drinking and lazy and he was still motivated coach.

I felt really shamed because I had so much respect for him. So me and my buddies who also had him as a Coach some seasons were acting like we still active and fit and sober and motivated and hiding our smokes and sneaking out the back, but Coach was not stupid.

Best coach ever, he never made me feel uncomfortable in training, yet he knew what he was doing. He won us every season. He never lost a season any team he coached.

Some people don't realise how important a coach is even they don't play they are the heart of the team.

I just internet searched Coach now after so many years and he's still Coaching and in the national news. Last time I seen him he had black hair now he's grey old man.

Another teams coach apologized after accusing him and his team of being cheaters. They just having a cry Coach is the best and they just jeleous.

No one ever calls Coach a cheater. I will back him 100%. Never ever would coach cheat, I played for him many years. They just jeleous having a cry he's skilled, experienced, strategic, and knows how to Coach a team.

Now...
What if your relationships with people did the same thing as Coach's did for you?
Just saying...

I miss the days where people were divided up into winners and losers. Otherwise, what's the point of playing a game or participating in a contest in the first place? :shrug
