Bad language.

Handy, you actually managed to answer my question. You actually gave me a response where you thought about my question and gave reasoning for why you hold your position. You did exactly what I wanted. A deep discussion.

The mods making some words bad isn't the actual point. I simply wanted people to think and respond as to why we allow words to gain such status. You did that. And I'm happy. I come to this board to have discussion and to learn from others. I want heated debate and thoughtful provoking answers because they help lead us to the truth and reveal our inner works to how we perceive logic.

We still haven't tackled how some words evolved into the taboo forms they are today, but at least we have a foundation as to why. Such as them being rude or for enticement. Now we can work with that and figure out what exactly prompted the specifics.

Thank you Handy.

Just keep in mind that there is a difference as to why the offending words are banned.

Some words, F-bomb included, are banned because society has deemed them to be the offensive words.

However, anything coming close to blasphemy, and using the name of Jesus in such a way is blasphemy, is banned because it is an affront to the God most of us worship and live for here at this forum.

Pushing the envelop for the *sake of discussion* with crude language is one thing. Blasphemy is wholly a different thing. Both will get you in trouble on this site, but keep in mind why.

I bring this up because, hey, if you truly want to have a discussion on the evolutionary linguistics of certain terms, then OK. But, let's discuss the why's and wherefore's without actually using the terms, 'cause they're either blasphemous or downright skanky (there's a word for ya) and inappropriate for this forum.

Lance,

I'd like to see how long your argument would last if let's say you were in a customer support position and you threw the F-bomb out to one of your customers that you disagreed with.

Do you really think that winning the argument with your boss would allow you to keep your job?

While I understand that you like to prevoke thought and debate, others don't see it that way so really, doesn't it come to respecting the opinions of those you may be offending?

Nonsense! I gave you perfectly good answer, but you rejected it due to my bluntness. I'm not here to sugar-coat my responses to you.

Honestly, Pard gave the best answer.

Maybe I shouldn't have deleted the video link; maybe I should have just banned you again. You're on borrowed time and you're pointing an accusing finger at us? Please respect the fact that you are a guest on our Christian Forum and abide by the rules.
