Baseball 2010

Let's get the baseball talk going

AL EAST: Yankees
AL Central: Twins
AL WEST: Rangers
Wild Card: Angels

NL EAST: Phils
NL Central: Cardinals
NL WEST: Dodgers
Wild Card: Braves

What do you think?

BB, I hope NY appreciates Granderson as much as we did in Detroit and doesn't get murdered by the NY media. He gives 100% every day. It will be brutal to see him wearing pinstripes!

I hate the Yankees with the white hot intensity of a thousand suns, so in good Christian love brotha, I hope you experience nothing but dispare this and every season.

All misery be on NY baseball!

lol... so tell me how you really feel about the Grandy-Damon Swap. I'm pretty sure we got the better end of this one. I'm excited to see Curtis play for the best team in baseball history.

I'm sorry. I threw up in my mouth a little. blah!

I am in the majority here in the Detroit market who would much rather have Granderson than Damon even based just on baseball (not including his personal class). There was Granderson's problem hitting right-handed pitchers. This really got some fans upset with him. I don't really see them as a swap, since they weren't traded for each other. Since Damon acquired in free agency, I see them as unrelated.

But the fact is we have Damon who doesn't have what he once did with his arm in the outfield. He's on the downside of his career. Grandy is on the upside. Some have suggested that the Tigers have had the opportunity to fully evaluate his potential and see something there that says he isn't going to work out. If that is right, we might have pulled one the Yankees. It's true, he can't hit right-handed pitching, but today, I would much rather have Granderson.

Sorry friend, the Yankees are everything that's wrong with baseball. No farm system, never groom young prospects, just open Steinbrenner's fat wallet and amass a huge star-studded roster and fill up those outrageously priced lower level season tickets.

Death, pain, and gnashing of teeth be on the Yankees. I certainly would never wish literal death & damnation on them & I don't believe in purgatory. But if I did, a very long stay there until they repent for signing with that organization would be fitting.

I am a Red Sox fan, but I believe they traded away too much talent from last years team. Jason Bay should still be with the RS.

Being a die hard RS fan, I guess I will just have to grin and bear the fact that this year is not going to be their best year. However, they might be a wildcard team. I pray :pray

BTW - I still believe in miracles -- :rolling

Bazin Bones, you like apples? How do you like them apples?!!! 1 of 4 in Detroit!

Three games the evil empire will never have back. :chair

YANKS!!

Though I must say I'm extremely disappointed to see Matsui and Damon go...they were so good!! They were suck a huge part of our win last year!! Such a bummer :crying

Go Minnesota Twins, we might be the best team in Baseball, unforutanely we have to play the New York Yankees, who seem to own my Twins.

Oh, yes. Then there's the Twins. The "hate-factor" is one notch below the Yankees for me. Maybe that has something to do with game 163 last year. :chin

We road tripped from the Detroit area to Green Bay for the Lions/Packers game. Not a lot of love there for Minnesota. In fact no love at all. In fact a lot of hate for Minnesota in Green Bay. Bitterness and gnashing of teeth. :mad

Okay, let's take a look at things. The Yanks are helping out the steel city cats by eating up the twins. The Yankees still have the second best record in baseball despite losing 10 of 15 before yesterday.

As for the no farm system notion a few months back that I didn't see....Posada. Pettite. Rivera. Jeter. Gardner. Hughes. Chamberlin. Robertson. Cabrera. Ramirez. Coke. Cano. Bruney.

On a 25 man World Series Championship Roster, half of the team came through the Yankees farm system.

Let's look around the majors this year to see other players from the Yankees Farm system playing big. Austin Jackson in Detroit. Aren't those your boys, Mike? :) Ian Kennedy in Arizona. Ross Olendorf and Jose Tabata with the Pirates. We may not have the most vast farm system like the Rangers or Braves, but we certainly have one, and other major league teams are sure glad to take pieces from it for their aging pros.

Will I will have to apologize Mike because I'm a big Viking fan, I figure maybe the World Series this year for the Twins, and when Favre comes back definitely the Super Bowl for the Vikings.

But we can agree on the hate factor for the Yankees.
