He is New to the joy of walking and reading.pray that he makes probation.

add cattle and horses.

Cattle & horses?????
yes, I have the route called trillium that has a horse stall on it that , I must be careful not to let him out. and across the street there are cattle. I had to walk around them one day and one on another route did charge a coworker.

All sorts of critters occupy the routes in your area!
it was worse. I couldn't imagine the days of when oslo where I live was in full swing and that was in 1919. how the farms had livestock, groves. there were groves all over into what is now communities on the beach. marbrisa was one of them but that is water only.

Fortunately, the challenges aren't quite what they used to be. Still, there are enough to keep you on your toes while doing those routes. I really do hand it to you as well as to all meter readers: yours is not an easy job, and it's one that isn't appreciated by most people.

I wouldn't want to read in the cold states when I was at knox they all used cyclometers and dial meters. a cyclometer is a meter that reads like and odometer. really old. reading in the snow. no thanks.

I don't know how people can trudge thru snow drifts, battle winter winds, just to read meters. Even bundled up like Nanook of the North, the meter readers have a highly challenging time of it.

they average reads. that is what im told. im sure they cant find a meter in a few feet of snow. here we have the issue of rain. flooded meters. I have a lot of those after a few days of rain. there was a route that I did the first time that rained for an hour. I was wet and I skipped 13 of those and still finished that route before noon. I went back to each meter after the rain stopped and got the reads.

They can only do a certain number of estimated reads per year in my state. In my area for the past 2 years or more, all bills were based on actual reads. I give the readers a lot of kudos for their dedication.
