Rev 13:1-4
John saw a beast (beast is often referred to as nations in scripture) rise up out of the sea having seven heads and ten horns and upon his horns ten crowns, (crowns denotes Kings) and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.

The beast rises up out of the sea as the sea here is symbolic of people and nations as in a sea of humanity, Daniel Chapter 7:1-8; Revelation 17:15. This beast is the Luciferians political, economic, educational and false religious system who gives its power and authority to the beast out of the earth who is the false prophet (son of perdition) who will cause a great falling away, but will be consumed by the spirit of the mouth of Christ when He returns, 2 Thessalonians 2:1-12; Rev 19:11-21.

The seven heads are that of the Babylonian Empire, Medo/Persian Empire and Grecian Empire and Roman Empire. The ten horns represent the nations the Roman Empire scattered to when the deadly wound was put upon them, Daniel 7:23-25. The deadly wound came in 1798 when General Berthier of France captured Pope Pius VI, who soon died in captivity in Valence, on August 29, 1799. The deadly wound was healed in 1929 by Mussolini.

The mark of the beast could possibly be some barcode or micro chip one has to receive in order to buy or sell, but what is important is the thoughts of the mind and actions of the hands of what one will subject themselves to in order to survive as much of the worlds resources will be gone during the time of the first six trumpet chastisements of God as He warns people they need to repent and turn back to Him, 2 Chronicles 7:14.

The mark of the beast is to those who have no understanding of the word of God as they reject the teachings of Christ as they are lovers of self, 2 Timothy 3:1-7 and will allow themselves to be deceived in their mind as they reach out with their hands and bow down to this Luciferians false religion that promises them provision, peace and safety during the time of Gods great wrath in the end of days as they have no faith in Jesus who supplies all our needs, Philippians 4:19. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints as they wait upon the Lords return. John’s vision, described at the beginning of Revelation Chapter 13, was symbolic of dominant world power/governments “ascending out of the sea.” (Isaiah 57:20; Revelation 17:15) At John’s time of his vision, five were of the past (Egypt, Assyria, Babylon, Medo-Persia, Greece) one was present (Rome) and one yet to be identified in the future. (Revelation 17:9-11) The head that received a “death-stroke” but survived is a future prophecy of the seventh head in a dual/united relationship: Anglo-America (England/United States). This same beast is partially described in the book of Daniel. Notice what it reads at the end of Revelation 13:2: “…the dragon [Satan] gave to the beast its power….” All governments are under the influence of Satan.-2 Corinthians 4:4; 1 John 5:19.

Rev 12:3 the other sign John saw was a great red dragon meaning Satan. Remember, this is a vision and a sign as Satan has not yet been cast out of heaven until the beginning of the 3 1/2 year tribulation. The description of the dragon being great and red depicts its nature and character as being fierce and murderous, John 8:44. This red dragon is depicted as having seven heads, ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads. This is also confirmed in Rev 17 as mystery Babylon is described. The seven heads and ten horns refer to the original ten kingdoms of which three were subdued by the little horn of Daniel 7:8. The last kingdom which stands greater than all the others is that of a revived Roman Empire that takes control over all the ten nations who then implements a deceiving peace treaty with the Muslims in which the Dome of the Rock will be given over to the son of perdition as he reigns from the very Temple mount of God. This is the abomination Jesus spoke of in Matthew 24:15, 16 that we are to flee from when we see the son of perdition take his seat in Jerusalem for 3 1/2 years.

God speaks to us in scripture of a 3 1/2 year tribulation during the time of the seventh trumpet, not a seven year tribulation, as being time, times and half time which equals 1260 days = 3 1/2 years or 3 Times as the Hebrew calendar only had 30 days for each month and this is where you get 1260 days or 3 1/2 years.

I'm not sure he's ever going to be exposed in any special way. He just is what he is. A powerful world ruling nation, which all of the other beasts mentioned in the Scriptural prophecies of 'beasts', have been. Babylon was the great ruler of the world in its day. Then came the medo-Persians and they ruled pretty much the known world, then the Greeks and finally, the Romans. Today, I believe, if one were to look at the geo-political world that we live in, while we have now some 200 nations, there are only 3-4 that could be considered 'world ruling'.

And since we both agree that the beast of Revelation is already here, then what nation or kingdom or ruler, could it be? What does the evidence from the Scriptures tell us about this beast?

Umm. Not sure I see the connection in that, with what the Scriptures tell us concerning the beast. My issue with your understanding is that you're not really showing us some definable nation or kingdom as the beast. In all of Daniel's prophetic work regarding the beasts, they are known nations or kingdoms that, at their time in history, were considered the nation or kingdom that ruled over the earth. That's why I say, let's look at existing nations in existence upon the earth. Because that's what Daniel describes as the previous beasts.

So, as I understand it, a nation, a kingdom will rise up from all the peoples of the earth. That nation, kingdom will be just like the other four nations/kingdoms depicted in the first four beasts. Actual nations with actual governments and rulers who, in their day, were considered the nation that ruled over the earth's people.

Babylon was a kingdom/nation that actually existed. It has geographical boundaries on the face of the earth. And in it's day, was considered the most powerful ruling nation upon the earth. Medo-Persia was a kingdom/nation that actually existed on the face of the earth with geographical boundaries. In it's day it was considered the most powerful ruling nation upon the earth. The Greeks, another nation/kingdom upon the earth with geographical boundaries that was considered the most powerful and influential nation on the earth in its day. And finally Rome. Another nation with geographical boundaries that was considered the most powerful ruling nation upon the face of the earth in its day.

So, relying on those descriptors that the Scriptures tell us about all the other beasts, I have a hard time seeing this somehow amorphous group of people who are not a nation, according to your description, but just a group of people insinuated throughout various societies and people groups of the earth, as being the beast that we are told of in both Daniel's prophetic writings and the writings of John concerning the Revelation of Jesus. It's just a complete departure from how the Scriptures define and explain the previous beasts.

this is a vision and a sign as Satan has not yet been cast out of heaven

... and yet Jesus said that his disciples would see Satan cast down like lightening. I happen to believe that Satan was cast down to the earth at the crucifixion, or resurrection. There doesn't seem to be any real evidence that would show us when this event actually happened on the earth. But the Revelation of Jesus tells us that he is here with us now. That's why the Revelation of Jesus also tells us that he is now seeking to destroy those who hold to the testimony of Jesus. Satan is here, cast down to the earth... now! Not when he went before God in Job's day, but when Jesus conquered death, Satan was cast down to the earth... and the disciples saw it, according to Jesus' testimony. When the woman in travail gave birth to the male child, the one that Satan tried to kill through the hands of Herod' conquered death and sin, Satan was cast down like lightening from heaven. That's how I read it.

I'm not sure that your waiting for Satan to make some grand fall from heaven at some point in the future that we will all see and say, "Oh, that's Satan falling from heaven!", is the way it's really going to be. I think Satan has already been cast down to the earth. When Jesus conquered death and sin, Satan was cast out of heaven.

In my work here I've only been discussing the beast that comes out of the sea.

And I saw one of his heads as if it had been mortally wounded, and his deadly wound was healed. And all the world marveled and followed the beast.

I just have a hard time seeing how the whole world marveled at and then followed after Rome in Italy beginning in 1929. That doesn't seem to fit the description very well. One of the things I try to be careful about is that all of the descriptors have to match. When people try to tell me that Noah's flood was some local thing, I always ask, "you mean that you believe you can flood a region of the earth where water will stay flooded for a year? Friend, if you don't flood the whole earth, there is nowhere that you could flood that would fit all the descriptors of the flood.

That's why the Revelation of Jesus also tells us that he is now seeking to destroy those who hold to the testimony of Jesus. Satan is here, cast down to the earth... now! Not when he went before God in Job's day, but when Jesus conquered death, Satan was cast down to the earth... and the disciples saw it, according to Jesus' testimony. When the woman in travail gave birth to the male child, the one that Satan tried to kill through the hands of Herod' conquered death and sin, Satan was cast down like lightening from heaven. That's how I read it.

I'm not sure that your waiting for Satan to make some grand fall from heaven at some point in the future that we will all see and say, "Oh, that's Satan falling from heaven!", is the way it's really going to be. I think Satan has already been cast down to the earth. When Jesus conquered death and sin, Satan was cast out of heaven.

Revelation 12:10 And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.

IMO, I do not think the war in heaven has happened yet, but I could be wrong.

We wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the ruler of darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Satan moves to and fro on the earth and has access to the throne of God to accuse the brethren. God made man in his image and breathed life into him. Man was created innocent, but also given free will, until Satan deceived Eve into eating the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil which she also gave to her husband Adam to eat of. Satan is very cunning and should be respected in the sense that he can do whatever it takes to separate us from God as his spiritual wickedness is increased through out the nations.

I just have a hard time seeing how the whole world marveled at and then followed after Rome in Italy beginning in 1929.

The seven heads are that of the Babylonian Empire, Medo/Persian Empire, Grecian Empire and Roman Empire. The ten horns represent the nations the Roman Empire scattered to when the deadly wound was put upon them, Daniel 7:23-25; Rev 13:3. The deadly wound came in 1798 when General Berthier of France, who made his entrance into Rome, abolished the Roman government and established a secular one and captured Pope Pius VI, who soon died in captivity in Valence, on August 29, 1799. In 1801 Napoleon made an agreement with Pope Pius II establishing Napoleon s Organic Articles of granting the Tribunal and the Corps legislative partial control of the concordat in order to help the state monitor any politically harmful Catholic or Protestant movements or activities. The wound was largely healed in 1929 when Mussolini gave the Vatican back to Pope Pius XI and established it as a country in it's own right in the Lateran Treaty.

The Roman Empire began in 753BC by Romulus who founded Rome in 27BC with Augustus Caesar becoming the first emperor of Rome in 27 BC and died in 14AD. Rome controlled over two million square miles stretching from the Rhine River to Egypt and from Britain (England) to Asia Minor which made up the Grecian Empire of Greece, Turkey, Syria and Egypt. In 146BC the Romans destroyed Corinth during the Battle of Corinth and made the Greece Empire into a province of the Roman Empire. This timeline goes from 753BC to 27BC. Nero burned Rome in 64AD and blamed the Christian community in the city causing the Roman Empires first persecution of Christians. In 1453 was the rise of the Ottoman Empire that conquered Constantinople destroying the Byzantine Empire (Eastern Roman Empire) that reigned from 330AD to 1453AD. The Roman Empire was then called the Holy Roman Empire that was a political entity beginning in 800AD - 1806AD from the time of Charlemagne (Holy Roman Emperor) who protected Pope Leo III from Adrian's supporters in Rome to Francis II, King of France. Pope Pius VII was the Pope from 1800-1823. The Roman Empire is known today as Vatican City, a city-state surrounded by Rome and Italy who has diplomatic relations with every nation around the world.

The crowns on its heads show that this dragon claims royal authority against the true King who is God of all creation as he prepares to take his seat above all that which is Gods Kingdom claiming he is God as he prepares to deceive the world through that of an existing Roman Empire, Daniel 8:9-12; Isaiah 14:12-15.

The beast rises up out of the sea, Rev 13, as the sea here is symbolic of people and nations as in a sea of humanity, Daniel Chapter 7:1-8; Revelation 17:15. The seven heads are that of the Babylonian Empire, Medo/Persian Empire, Grecian Empire and Roman Empire. The ten horns represent the nations the Roman Empire scattered to when the deadly wound was put upon them, Daniel 7:15-28.

These ten nations were the Anglo-Saxons (Germans in Great Britain), the Franks (French), Suevi (Portuguese), Visigoths (Spanish), Burgundians (Swiss), Alemanni (Germans), Lombards (Italians), Ostrogoths, Heruli, and the Vandals in northern Africa. The last three being Ostrogoths, Heruli, and the Vandals had already been destroyed by the Roman Empire before their deadly wound came in 1798.

The beast out of the earth, Rev 13:11-18, is the revived Roman Empire (mystery Babylon) which causes man to take its mark. Daniel 7:25 and another shall rise after them; and he shall be diverse from the first, He will think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time, 2 Thessalonians 2:13-12.

In chapter 12 of the Revelation of Jesus, we find that a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet and 12 stars on her head. She was pregnant and cried out in pain as she was about to give birth.

This is describing Israel (Mary) birthing Jesus.

Now the text continues with the word 'then' an enormous red dragon with seven heads and ten horns and seven crowns on its heads.

The text now immediately goes into the actual birth of Jesus and Satan standing near ready to devour her child. We all agree that child is Jesus, right? Then Jesus was snatched up to God and to his throne. Jesus is now sitting at the right hand of the majesty who is His Father. Then the woman fled into the wilderness (the diaspora).

Now, if we jump over to vs. 13 we find that the dragon has been hurled down to the earth. He then pursues the woman who had given birth to the male child. But when he finds that he is unsuccessful at this he turns his attention to those who keep God's commands and hold fast their testimony about Jesus.

So the war in heaven in which Michael and his angels cast Satan and his angels to the earth seems to have taken place shortly after Jesus ascended into heaven and the Jews were dispersed around the world ' the wilderness'. Satan seems to be described as actively working around the earth as the woman goes into the wilderness for 1,260 days and while the followers of Jesus are persecuted.

Hi miamited here is my understanding of Rev 12:1-6 by how I study this.

Rev 12:1-6

John is shown a great sign in heaven as he sees a vision of a woman clothed with the sun and the moon under her feet. The sun is representative of the glory and brilliance of Gods righteousness that surrounds her and protects her. Under her feet the moon which is illustrative of eternity, light, Gods faithfulness in His Son Jesus who is the greater light of the gospel age as Jesus being the light of the world that shines in darkness, but the darkness can not comprehend the light, Psalms 72:5-7; Isaiah 2:3-5; Jeremiah 31:35-37; Isaiah 30:26-33; John 1:1-5.

The woman is symbolic of Israel and the congregation of Gods people as she wears a crown of twelve stars which represents the twelve tribes of Israel that have repented of their arrogance as they felt they deserved Gods favor, but yet kept killing the prophets God sent to them, including the very Messiah they were waiting for. This is when the times of the Gentiles began as God went to them to take Himself a people that were humbled enough to receive salvation as God had mercy on them, Matthew 23:37-39; Acts 15:14; Romans 11:25-27.

Paul also warned the Gentiles against being lifted up in pride because they had been favored by God with salvation as he explained the blindness of Israel would not last forever as when they see the Gentiles now having favor in the Lord and being grafted into the branch of Israel they repent of their sin and turn back to God being once again found in His favor, Romans Chapter 11.

The true congregation of God can be symbolized here as a mother that has all here children gathered in one place for safety which in this case is under the wings of the almighty God, Psalms 91. She cries out like a woman in labor as the pain of her persecutions has become too great to bear as she waits to be delivered from her persecutors, 2 Timothy 4:18; 2 Peter 2:9; Colossians 1:13.

The other sign John saw in Rev 12 was a great red dragon meaning Satan. Remember, this is a vision and a sign as Satan has not yet been thrown out of heaven yet. The description of the dragon being great and red depicts its nature and character as being fierce and murderous, John 8:44. This red dragon is depicted as having seven heads, ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads. The seven heads and ten horns refer to the original ten kingdoms of which three were subdued by the little horn of Daniel 7:8. The last kingdom which stands greater than all the others is that of a revived Roman Empire that takes control over all the ten nations who then implements a deceiving peace treaty to a world that is in great distress. Below is that of the seven kingdoms described as four beasts in Daniel 7:1-8 and the three kingdoms that were subdued by the little horn, which is the Roman Empire.

The three kingdoms that were subdued by the little horn of Daniel 7:24 are the Heruli, Vandals, and Ostrogoths who were eliminated by the year 538 AD under the leadership of the Eastern Roman Emperor Justinian whose deadly wound came in 1798. The wound was largely healed in 1929 when Mussolini gave the Vatican back to the Pope and established it as a country in it's own right in the Lateran Treaty. Today the Vatican has formal diplomatic relations with almost every country in the world. We will study this more in Chapter 13.

Seven remaining nations that still exist today:

Babylonian Empire:
(Iraq) The lion represents the winged lions that guarded the royal places of Babylon.

Medo – Persian Empire:
(Iran) The ribs of the bear are part of the consuming greed that devours the first empire.

Grecian Empire:
(Greece, Turkey, Syria, Egypt) Four wings of the leopard described the swiftness of this empire that ran from 334-331BC. It wrestled world dominion from Medo-Persia. After the death of Alexander the Great the kingdom was divided into four minor kingdoms that continued as prominent factors in world politics until the Roman Empire gathered it back as one kingdom.

Roman Empire: (little horn, Daniel 8:9-14, 23-27)
Iron represents the stronghold this nation had. Daniel chapter 2 mentions the iron element of this empire that it to will be divided and broken as God will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed.

Rev 12:7-12

Satan and his unholy angels are now cast out of heaven forever and cast down to the earth. He is full of wrath as he has no more access to heaven where he stood before the Lord accusing the brethren while Jesus made intercession for them, Romans 8:34. Now is come salvation, strength and the kingdom of our Lord and the power of His Christ as we have overcome Satan by the blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony as we love not our lives unto death.

Now that Satan has been cast down to earth he is furious as he knows his time is short and he is going to do everything in his own power to silence and destroy the anointed of God as he works through those who have bowed down to him. Salvation brings with it Gods power and authority that gives us the strength to stand against Satan. Strength refreshes us to stand and not be weary, to walk and not give up. We rely on Gods strength to help us through every obstacle that stands in our way. Satan has always tried to fight against us and wear the flesh down, but our strength comes by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit living in us, Isaiah 40:31; Matthew 26:41.

We have been instructed of God to not conform to the world, but to be transformed in the renewing of our mind, Romans 12:2.

Those who have picked up their cross to follow Jesus, Matthew 16:24-28, need not worry that Satan is now out for blood as he will succeed in killing many saints as they die a martyr’s death like those saints before them as they loved not their own life, but have life eternal with the Father. Satan used Emperor Justinian who had around five hundred million Christians killed during his reign and also used Paul before his conversion to slaughter the Christians as they both did this in the name of God, 2 Timothy 3:5.

War begins on earth as prophesied by in Daniel 12:1-3. The woman (Jew and Gentile as the Gentile is grafted into that vine that is Jesus) goes into her place in the wilderness as she is given two eagle wings, Exodus 19:4, where she is nourished for three and a half years or 1260 days, Daniel 7:25; Daniel 12:7; Revelation 11:1-3.

Her place means to stand in the holy place, which is our strength and faith that is Christ whom we call upon in our time of need as we pray for courage and fortitude to stand against Satan especially now that he has been cast out of heaven and placed here on earth. Satan is now ready to persecute the woman to death and she is told to flee from the temptation that is about to take place as many will renounce Jesus at this time as they truly do not have the Holy Spirit dwelling in them.

Satan cast water out of his mouth (water is a metaphor for word as in John 3:5) as a flood or powerful words sent forth to persecute the woman to death, but the earth, the Spirit of the Lord, Isaiah 59:19, set up a standard against Satan that he saw no fear in them. This greatly angered Satan as he went out to destroy the remnant of her seed meaning all who claim Jesus as Lord and Savior all over the world.

Up to this point in Revelation we have seen the woman as only being Israel under the covenant of promise of eternal life with the father. The outer court given to the Gentile as they will trample it and bring back the sacrifices, but not the sacrifice that is for sin as they are under the cloud of darkness as they are ruled by Satan unaware. We have seen a standard set up against Satan that he saw no fear in the house of Israel as they have always kept Gods commandments and the testimony of Christ as they and their generations after them were sent out to preach to the Jew only, Matthew 10:6, that have been scattered all over the world.

Satan is enraged with anger against Israel now because he found no fear in them and now seeks to destroy her remnant which are those Gentiles that Paul was instructed to go out and preach to, Acts 22:21. Daniel had no insight of a Gentile nation turning to God so this is why only Israel is mentioned, but now it has become Israel and those Gentiles grafted into her branch that makes up the whole body of Christ.
