Belief a CHOICE?

That sounds very sensible. I thought for a while you had solved the semantic dilemma but isn't having faith in God the same as believing in God? Could one have faith in someone or something if you didn't believe in them/it?

What about my example of choosing to believe one side of an argument? Like the example I gave of anthropomorphic global warming? I suppose you could say that we have or don't have faith in climate scientists which seems to be the same as believing or disbelieving them. :gah

Maybe you are better at financial management than you think you are.

I think faith and belief go hand in hand but they are different.

Belief is when you are confident that you can achieve your goal such as: "I can believe in Jesus and know that I will go to heaven".

Faith is the implication that it is needed to achieve this goal such as: "taking a leap of faith".

other examples: I have faith that I could achieve a goal and did so.
other people had belief that they could match me by achieving the same goal.

... Belief can be based on proof of known facts, where faith is always based on belief without facts....

I think that is right.

"Only in the absence of proof can there be faith". M Brown.

I actually think that while evidence to support the Bible and Christianity definitely does exist (that being why I'm interested in apologetics), that it seems rather obscure (for lack of better word) a lot of times for a reason...like God did that on purpose.
Like, ultimately puting our faith and belief in God requires there to be a choice because He's asking us to trust Him, even if we don't completely understand why at the time.

IDK, just a thought, and I'm not sure I worded it right. I'd like to know what people think about it.

Martin Luther once said "Faith is taking the first step even when you don't see the whole staircase" Its not taking the first step when you can't see any of the staircase or not even sure it's there.
