Best sci-fi - & why??

Donnie Darko is definitely a great movie. I purchased the Directors Cut on DVD which was fine, but regardless of the title, i always seem to prefer the theatrical versions over the extended ones.

My favourate Sci-Fi movie has to be 'Cube' Directed by Vincenzo Natali.[attachment=0:2pta33yk]cube.jpg[/attachment:2pta33yk]

I preferred the theatrical version as well. Directors cut went too long imo.

Given the amount of scifi movies that I've watched in life putting together a top 10 list is not easy.
Still, here is my shot at that list.
Note, some of the films might stretch the meaning of science fiction.

BTW been driving me crazy years ago I saw a movie (must be in the 80's) and all I remember is at the end the white stuff that everyone eats, only source of food was recycled dead people (that was the plot twist at the end) and for the life I can't remember what the movie was called! :mad

Thank you so much - I believe that is it (been driving me nuts for months now!) going to rent it again. I bow down to your memory of sci-fi - truly amazing
