The thing about the NT is half of the things in there I don't even understand and the one thing that I never understood is why would Judas choose to betray Jesus with a kiss of all things? He could have chosen to point at Him, or just say aloud that He was the one that they were looking for, (not like it really matters because it was still awful) but a kiss just doesn't make an awful lot of sense since it's used to show love not betrayal. :thinking

Greet all the brethren with a holy kiss. 1 Thessalonians 5:26 New King James Version

The kiss of peace was a common greeting in days of yore. Sort of like 2 men meeting the the street today, and shaking each other's hands.

Yes I know that but did you greet your enemies in the same way? That's my question.

Some people just pretend to be friends.

Oh well, Jesus knew better. It's still kind of hard for me to know for sure if Judas was a real friend of His or not because on one hand he betrayed Him, but he still felt guilty afterwards which is why I do believe that he hung himsef.

But it's going to be terrible for the one who betrays me! That man would be better off if he had never been born." Matthew 26:24b CEV

Oh and one more thing. That's not to say that suicide is the answer because it isn't.

Simply put the kiss was a prearranged signal with the Jewish authorities of who they were to arrest. Mark 14:43-46.
